| | O'Connell Named New Bishop of Albany Diocese | | | |
"I Come with Great Joy"
Pope Leo has named Mark O'Connell auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Boston as the 11th Bishop of Albany. Bishop O'Connell replaces Bishop Edward B. Scharfenberger, who has led the Diocese since 2014.

Called to Belong
This year's school theme is "Created with Purpose, Called to Belong."
Thanks to an inspirational story told by Fr. Bob, the student body has adopted a secondary, but similar theme: "Be a Larry!"
You'll notice a large sign greet you when you enter the lobby, and soon, there will be a design contest for "Be a Larry" t-shirts which will be sold to benefit Student Council. The winner of the contest gets a sweatshirt!
So, who is this mysterious Larry who has had such a profound impact?

AHN Hosts Annual Network of Schools Meeting
AHN hosted the annual Network of Holy Names Schools this week. Presidents, principals, and other representatives from across the country and Canada gathered to discuss our common mission and share strategies for guiding our institutions.

Dr. Linda LeMura
Dr. LeMura is the President of Le Moyne College. Appointed by the College’s Board of Trustees in 2014, she became the first female layperson to be named as president of a Jesuit institution of higher education in the United States.
During her tenure, Le Moyne has achieved eight years of its largest class enrollments. Dr. LeMura has also overseen the completion of the $100 million Always Forward campaign, the largest campaign in the College’s history.

Christine Caputo Granich '86
Mrs. Granich, a member of the Holy Names Class of 1986, and Associate General Counsel of the New York State Law Enforcement Officers Union.
Mrs. Granich concentrates on litigation in the state and federal courts, contract grievance arbitrations and administrative proceedings at the Department of Labor, Civil Service Department, Division of Criminal Justice Services, New York State Justice Center and New York State Public Employment Relations Board.

Pretty in Pink
AHN’s Booster Club sold pink tinsel on Monday and Tuesday to students to jazz up their hair! Proceeds from the sale will go to help promote breast cancer awareness as well as support AHN’s athletics programs.

Thank you to all who joined in the fun Thursday afternoon painting t-shirts for Cassie and Addison’s senior service project!
On Friday, students wore purple to raise awareness for Alzheimer’s Disease. Many others will be participating in the annual walk at Siena University on Saturday.

Email her for more information! | | Seniors Collecting Stuffed Animals, Dolls | | |
As part of their senior service project, Sophia and Kate are looking to improve the quality of life of senior residents at Glendale Nursing Home!
Studies show stuffed animals and dolls provide a comforting object to hold, which can have a calming effect, particularly on dementia patients. They can also help foster connections with caregivers.
A donation box is available in the lobby.

Pink Panthers
Thank you to all who came out Tuesday evening to support our volleyball teams, and Ella and Ally’s senior service project. The annual “Dig Pink” event helped raise more than $1,500 for breast cancer research!
We also want to thank all who came out on a gorgeous Sunday to support Meara and Sam’s senior service project: a tennis tournament which raised approximately $1,300 to benefit 15-LOVE!
The organization uses tennis as a medium to provide holistic youth development programs for inner-city youth in the Capital Region. A special thanks to Coach Fiore for working with all the players.
Congratulations to our soccer seniors, Ella, Rachael, and Shaya, who were honored ahead of their game last Saturday!
We also congratulate the swimming and diving team for its performances in its final dual meet of the season: Lily, Riley, and Sofia L. finished 1st, 2nd, and 4th in diving, respectively. Sofia M. placed 2nd in the 200IM and 100 Back, and Olivia placed 3rd in the 50 Free.

NOTE: All afternoon youth cross country races have been combined into ONE race, starting at 1:00 p.m. It will be a 1.3 mile run.

AHN will be offering its next academic scholarship opportunity on Saturday, November 15.
The exam serves as a scholarship qualifying exam as well as assisting with student placement. Girls should arrive by 8:15 a.m. to sign in.
There is no fee for the exam and no specific requirements in preparing; however, it is important to get a good night’s sleep.
