AHN College Counseling:
One Dimension of a Well-Rounded Education
| | | |
By Dr. Martin Kilbridge
This coming Tuesday, our seniors will be heading to a college fair held at Christian Brothers Academy. We take this opportunity to remind you of the remarkable college counseling program we offer your daughters.
At Holy Names, we recognize the college admissions landscape has grown increasingly complex and high-pressure, requiring greater financial planning, strategic test preparation, extracurricular curation, and navigation of increasingly competitive, holistic admissions criteria. Our college counseling program helps students and families navigate this landscape and prepares each young woman to find the right college fit.

Therapy Dogs Visit
Thank you so much to our friends at Roc Dog, and Denise Fitzgerald ‘76 for bringing therapy dogs in to visit with students.
More than a half dozen pooches were on hand, ranging from a leonberger named Chewbacca and a shetland sheepdog named Poppie to a mini-schnauzer named Heidi. We even had two pups named Bruno (Mars and Bomber, to be precise).

Learning about Labs
There is no time wasted when it comes to absorbing knowledge here at Holy Names!
Earlier this week, Biology classes participated in their first lab of the school year, learning how to conduct a controlled experiment.
Students learned proper lab technique, report format, the difference between independent and dependent variables, and how to make a graph using Google Sheets.
This exercise allowed students to decide through experimentation which type of paper towel is the most absorbent. (Hint: it was the quilted quicker picker-upper!)

Thankful Thursday
We celebrated Thankful Thursday this week here at AHN, and students, faculty, and staff wrote messages to share what they are thankful for on the windows in the senior hallway.
Research shows practicing gratitude has a positive effect on mental health!
