Students Learn About Voting Process
A special thank you to former AHN teacher Maureen Bernstein P'13, of the non-partisan League of Women Voters, as well as members of the Board of Elections who visited with AHN's Government classes Thursday.
As part of New York State law, schools commit to fostering civic engagement by ensuring students have the necessary resources and knowledge to participate in the democratic process before they graduate. Today, students were able to learn about the importance of voting and details regarding the process of doing so. They were also able to cast mock ballots.

Called to Belong
Led by Campus Minister and Theology Teacher Ms. Moran, our ninth-grade students participated in a special retreat in the Campus Arts Center on Thursday.
Students were encouraged by retreat leaders to focus on the school theme “Created with Purpose, Called to Belong.”
Students worked together to form relationships with their classmates and spent some time reflecting on the gifts and talents they bring to the class of 2029. Overall they had a great day filled with fun and community building!

Activities Fair
On Wednesday, AHN hosted its annual Activities Fair, where students were able to sign up for a diverse array of clubs and activities which provide opportunities to explore their passions, develop leadership skills, serve the community, or just have fun.
Whether they’re interested in joining the student council, participating in STEM-focused clubs, or unleashing their talents in our various arts and music programs, there’s a little something for everyone!

| | | Deduction Laws to Change in 2026 | | | |
Consider Increasing Your Gifts to AHN in 2025
Gifts made to AHN are a charitable tax deduction. New legislation caps the tax benefits of itemized charitable deductions at 35%, even for those in the 37% marginal tax bracket. In other words, these high-income filers donating $1,000 would receive a $350 deduction instead of the current $370.
This change goes into effect in the 2026 tax year. Donors in higher tax brackets who are considering a significant philanthropic gift may want to think about accelerating their gift to 2025 to maximize their deduction under the current marginal rate before the new cap goes into effect.
