Building the Sisterhood

By Dr. Martin Kilbridge

We are so excited to begin another school year together. This year’s theme, Created with Purpose, Called to Belong – Rooted in Faith, United in Love, reminds us that each of us has been uniquely created by God and that we are strongest when we share our gifts in community. At Holy Names, belonging means more than simply being here—it means building bonds of friendship and sisterhood, supporting one another, and living out our call to love.

This Week at AHN

Ice Cream Social

It was a gorgeous night on Tuesday to kick off the 2025-26 school year with our annual Ice Cream Social!

The campus was filled with smiling faces -- many familiar, and some new. Students were able to get their schedules and fill their lockers, in addition to getting their faces painted and participate in games made available thanks to our various parent organizations.

Families were also treated to pizza and ice cream, as well as Gourmeli's Taste courtesy of Melanie Teliska '90.

Orientation Week

Classes don't officially start until Monday, but students were on campus all week for various orientation-related activities as they prepared to get back into the swing of things!

Panthers Updates

Panthers on the Prowl

AHN athletics is back for the start of the fall season! Our teams are still in search of their first wins, so we'll wish good luck Friday afternoon to varsity soccer for its home opener vs Schalmont.

AHN Golf Classic: Early Birdie Pricing Extended!

Swing into action and support Holy Names at the annual AHN Golf Classic on Monday, October 6 at Albany Country Club! We've extended our Early Bird Pricing through Monday, September 8, so you have more time to gather your family, friends, and/or coworkers to complete your foursome! All skill levels are welcome.

Your support plays a vital role in supporting our athletic programs, which empower students with confidence, resilience, leadership skills, and teamwork — qualities that shape the next generation of women leaders.

Proceeds from the event directly benefit the Booster Club as well as the 1884 Fund, which fuels student enrichment, enhances our facilities, and sustains the excellence of our all-girls education.

ALSO, a bonus for our milestone class years and current parents:

Class of 2000: Use code SILVER for a $25 discount.

Class of 1975: Use code GOLD for a $50 discount.

Current Parents: Use code AHNParent for a $25 discount.

Alumnae Updates

Congratulations, Megan Bell '21, who was named as a D3CA Region III Student-Athlete of the Year and selected as a CSC First-Team Academic All-American.

Alexandra Daily '18 was featured on Spectrum News in Clearwater, Fl, where students at Nova Southeastern University's Tampa Bay Regional Campus are learning what it takes to become osteopathic doctors.

According to Alexandra's parents, "AHN set a strong foundation for her medical journey - but more than that it cemented her desire to serve her community and strengthened her faith. AHN readies these young ladies to be leaders in their communities with confidence and poise."

It was a mini-reunion for the Class of 1961, and what reunion is complete without a cookie cake?

Seen here are Judith Devane Pinto, Carol Martin Kerigan, Connie Dyer Cullum, and Norene Jann White.

First Millenial Saint

Carlo Acutis, who died in 2006 at age 15 and is about to become history’s first millennial saint.

Much of the "digital disciple's" popularity is thanks to a concerted campaign by the Vatican to give the next generation of faithful a relatable, modern-day role model, an ordinary kid who used his technological talents to spread the faith.
