Happy? What it is
and How to Find it
Happy? If you're like most Americans today, you've probably been happier! Pairs 'n Spares Sunday School class is using  Happy? What it is and how to find it  by Matt Miofsky on Sunday mornings. Based loosely on Ecclesiastes, Rev. Miofsky is taking us on an exploration of what it means to be happy. Happy doesn't mean riches or fame, but rather relationships with yourself, your fellow humans, and most importantly, God.

They are using the WebEx platform starting at 9:30 am for coffee, with the lesson starting about 10:00, and ending before the 11:00 service. You can join in via computer or phone. Don't worry if you've never attended an online class before. It's easy to do.

Outreach Designates Aug. 9-31 For Foster Care Closet Support
The Mt. Zion Foster Care closet is designated in August, on our Great Year of Service calendar, to receive much-needed support.  The Foster Care Closet helps meet the needs of children placed in foster care through Wellroot Family Services (United Methodist Children’s Home), Foster For Love, and others as identified.

Every day in Georgia, an abused, neglected, or abandoned child or youth is introduced to foster care.  Almost all of these children and youth enter the foster care system with only the clothing they are wearing.  The Foster Care Closet at Mt. Zion UMC strives to be a resource center, by providing new clothing and necessities to foster children and their families throughout the duration of their time in the foster care system, at NO COST to the families.  Your generous support will help us fulfill this mission.

Last Year our Outreach Cluster helped fulfill 4 Christmas Wish Lists assisting foster care families in the Wellroot system. With your generous donations we also provided Wellroot with basic supplies from their wish list, along with grocery store gift cards given to the foster families. We are once again requesting gift card donations from Walmart, Target, Amazon, Publix, and Kroger. As always, you can also make a cash donation. Just mark it Mt. Zion Foster Care Closet. To make this totally contact-free please mail your donations directly to Mt. Zion UMC, 1770 Johnson Ferry Road, Marietta, Ga  30062. Please prayerfully consider supporting this important outreach program as we want to make Christmas a special time for these children.

Paul Makes the Best Of
an Unfortunate Situation
What do Pollyanna and the Apostle Paul have in common (besides a name that starts with "p")? They both know how to make the most of a bad situation.
Join a five week study of the book of Philippians. The class will use this book to understand how Paul’s imprisonment is relevant to the current situation of confinement and crisis. Explore Paul's ability to write with
joy despite his circumstances and apply it to today. Grow deeper in personal discipleship and servant leadership as you study how Jesus is
portrayed in Philippians.

Show Us You're Out There
We Miss Your Smiling Faces
We would like to see our Mt. Zion family's faces! So we came up with an idea...please email me  2 pictures  of you and/or your entire family. FIRST PICTURE of you watching the service. And the SECOND PICTURE of you all waving and smiling. We are going to put them together and use them in a future service (think prelude greeting or passing of the peace digital style!!)
Please forward this email to any of your small groups so we can get a lot of response. On Sunday mornings, many may feel isolated from the congregation and need to feel connected again, hopefully this will help.
Thank you (and don't worry if you worship in your jammies most of us are!!) And the pictures will show us we are not alone!   Please email your pictures to  Jeni.mccord@mtzionumc.org
by July 20th for this round.  Don't forget you can go back and watch a service anytime during the week if you are not available on Sunday mornings; the link is up all week!!
