Summer Sunday School is Back
Adult Learning Cluster announces the return of their popular Multi-generational Summer Sunday School. This year's study is based on The Chosen, an acclaimed series about the life of Jesus, which is available free, on Peacock TV.
The class begins on June 13, promptly at 10:00 am, leaving time beforehand if individual classes would like to meet in their own rooms for social time. Classes are then invited to recess to the gym for this joint study, hosted by the Pairs and Spares class. Breakout discussion groups will keep classes in tact.
The study runs 6 weeks until July 25, with a break for the July 4th holiday.
Laura Wheeler and Helen Geesey will share the facilitator role and there will be brief video clips from the show to support the weekly lesson. Participants are encouraged to watch season one episodes to gain a more complete picture of the study materials.
Weekly lessons will stand on their own, allowing drop-in attendance as your summer schedule permits. Email communications@mtzionumc.org with questions.

Wellroot Summer Read
& Feed Book Collection
by Ellen Bulterman
This month, the Outreach Cluster is collecting new and gently used books for Wellroot Family Services’ Summer Read & Feed program.  This program provides books and summer lunches to the children in their Family Housing Program & and kinship foster families throughout the summer. Wellroot currently has six families with a total of eight children in this program.  The kids' ages range from 3 yrs-10 yrs old.

Children without a summer reading routine can lose one to three months of the reading skills they spent the previous school year building.  The loss is a long-term, cumulative loss – once students lose reading ability over the summer, they rarely catch back up.

Collection bins are in the drive-through circle.  We’ll be collecting the books from June 1-21.  We’d love for you to join us in helping us promote summer reading.

MUST Seeks Volunteers to
Help with Summer Lunches
This summer, MUST Ministries will continue the time-honored tradition of partnering with churches, schools, corporations and volunteers to feed thousands of kids in the metro-Atlanta area all summer. MUST's goal is to provide breakfast and lunch to at least 6000 children for 9 weeks.
Summer Lunch will run from June 1 - July 30. MUST is proud of their generous sponsor: Fox5 Helping Hands.
Volunteers are needed to pack lunches and drivers to deliver them. Mt. Zion Outreach Committee is featuring the Summer Lunch Program as a June outreach opportunity but July dates are also available.
Summer Lunch events can be found on the MUST calendar (see link below) and are on Mondays and Fridays. Note that there are opportunities for packers and drivers at Marietta High School. Please note - the age requirement for volunteers is 12+.
An estimated 540,000 meals will be distributed across six counties (Cobb, Cherokee, Douglas, Fulton, Paulding, Gwinnett).

Rev. Stewart will close us in prayer.
God our Creator, Sustainer and Redeemer; we lift and honor your name with grateful hearts. You allowed us to see a new day with abundant blessings. You have given us joy for today and hope for tomorrow. We know that nothing is impossible with you. Lord, forgive us of our wrongdoings. Help us to extend forgiveness to one another, to respect and to listen to one another. Your word reminds us that, “the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well.” We pray for wellness-physical, emotional and mental wellness for all who are in need of healing and deliverance. Continue to keep us safe and protect us as many have increased travel during the summer months. Thank you for bringing us back together in person, to worship and praise our Savior Jesus Christ. In the powerful name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
