Theme: Rise Up! & Revive
Laity Sunday, November 14
Mt. Zion will observe Laity Sunday next month on November 14, with special guest speakers at traditional and modern services.
At 8:30 and 11:00 the message will be from current North Georgia Conference Lay Leader, Nate Abrams.
Mt Zion member, Rob Kabel, our Lectionary study facilitator, will speak in the Summit.
Laity Sunday is a day set aside to remember that every person is invited to embody God’s restoration project of healing love, justice, and world-repair. It is a special Sunday defined by General Conference “to celebrate the ministry of all Christians” (2016 Book of Discipline, ¶ 264.2). Laity Sunday is one way we express the deep conviction that all are called to participate in God’s mission and live this calling through the ministry of the church. Each year on Laity Sunday, we celebrate the 24/7 priesthood of all believers.
Laity Sunday celebrates the ministry of all Christians to love God and neighbor. We lift up the vocation of all to follow the way of Jesus and lead others to him.
Party in the Patch Invitation
Sat. October 23, 5 - 7:30 pm
Party in the Patch is happening on Saturday, October 23 from 5:00 to 7:30 pm in the lower parking lot and pumpkin patch. The time shift from the usual mid-day event should allow for less sun screen and more fun, since the culmination will be a movie-in-the patch, featuring the classic It's a Great Pumpkins, Charlie Brown.
Give a Thanksgiving Meal Box
Our Mt Zion Outreach Cluster is collecting the following items for the Wellroot Family Services Thanksgiving Meal Box.
Our goal is to provide TEN completed meal boxes.

Collection bins will be located under the drive-under and in the lobby by the elevator. We will be collecting through November 7th.
Thanksgiving is a time for family togetherness, but it can also be a time of financial stress for those who are food insecure. A holiday meal box is needed for residents in Wellroot programs and for families in crisis. Help the families and teens served by Wellroot by blessing them with a Thanksgiving meal box. Along with food, you are giving families the opportunity to build cooking skills and relationships.

Apple "Picking" Planned
For Keenager Oct. Outing
Dear Keenagers,
We hope all of you are doing well!

October has usually been Keenagers trip to Ellijay for our annual Apple Trip. This year we decided to stay closer to home and visit Rick's Farmers Market located at 3760 Roswell Road for our apples. Rick's is an awesome market offering many types of apples along with many other produce choices. It's been called a "roadside market in suburbia." And... They offer a full hot and cold bar for lunch!
Our plan:
Monday, October 18th at 10:30, meet at Rick's for our apple shopping. Pick up lunch from the hot and cold bar at Rick's and then onto East Cobb Park for lunch at 11:30. (you are welcome to pack your lunch). If you would like to carpool, please meet at Mt Zion at 10:15. Please RSVP t770-977-2175 or 770-490-8372 or email to

Please let us know any questions!!!
Take care and we hope to see you all at Rick's!!

The Keenagers Team
This is the goal for the 2021 Operation Christmas Child campaign at Mt. Zion. Since 1993 this wonderful ministry reached 188 MILLION girls and boys in over 160 different countries and territories worldwide.
Start your holiday season off right by bringing your filled shoeboxes to the church sanctuary on November 14th as we participate in Dedication Sunday. Dedication Sunday is celebrated in the US and UK as we dedicate this ministry in
prayer to children everywhere.
This year continues some changes to the Shoebox Project. Please do not pack ANY TYPE of candy or toothpaste in your shoebox. Also, the shipping donation fee is $9.00 per box. If you do not have a shoebox to fill, there will be shoeboxes available at the OCC table adjacent to the
children’s check in starting October 29th.
If you have any questions regarding Operation Christmas Child, please contact Allyson Arthur at: 770.321.1910

Our Pastors & Lay Leader
Suggest Using Masks
Friends and Servants of Mt. Zion,
In light of the resurgence in the Covid situation, the pastors and other church leaders have decided to wear masks indoors at church routinely, except as necessary to conduct worship effectively, etc. We would encourage you to do the same in prudent care of our church and surrounding community.
Every individual will have to make a personal decision in this regard. However, we believe this is a reasonable measure, and our best option to do what we can to prevent ongoing spread of the virus while we continue to worship, fellowship, and serve together.
In Christ,
Harden Hopper & Tracy Wheelis
