From the Desk of Ellen Knippel, Principal

Dear Parents,
Lent is upon us! As all of you know, we have begun our Lenten projects of Coins for a Cure and Tuna Tuesdays. Please feel free to send in tuna any day of the week (not just on Tuesday!).
Each week on Monday afternoon at 1:30 we will be praying the Stations of the Cross in church. The stations are led each week by a different class. Please come and join us if you are able.

Friday, March 15th is KISS Day (Kids Invite Someone Special). If you haven't RSVP'd yet please do so ASAP. We need counts to be sure we have enough food for everyone. The day will begin with Mass at 10:00am, however, students should arrive at school at the regular time. Student may leave (with parent permission) at 1pm with their Special Someone. Buses and EDC will occur at their regular times.

Next month we will be accepting nominations for Standing Committee members and Pastoral Council members. In anticipation of this, we are inviting all parents to attend our School Committee meeting this evening at 6:30pm which begins with prayer in church at 6:00. We hope some of you can join us!

Lenten Blessings!
Mrs. Knippel

Mustang Proud!

Congratulations to St. Anthony on the Lake alumnus Noe' Shinners, a member of the team from Pius XI Catholic High School who were First Place Regional Winners in the STEM Forward Rube Goldberg Machine Contest on Friday, March 1st. Noe' and his Pius XI teammates will travel to Lawrenceburg, IN for the National Competition on April 7th.  Fox6 News recently featured the team in their story about the Rube Goldberg competition.  CLICK HERE  to watch!
In addition to this accomplishment, Noe', who has been a member of Troop 359 in Hartland for the past four and a half years, achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, Scouting's highest rank, back on November 11th, 2018. Noe's Eagle Project was to organize a toy drive to benefit Jack's Toy Shop, which is located inside the Oncology unit at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin. He did this by personally asking twenty local businesses to sponsor a toy drive bin to collect toys over the course of a month. He collected 1,008 toys that he donated to Jack's Toy Shop. These toys will help cheer up the cancer patients at CHW.

A Conversation about Sex Trafficking in OUR Communities
Tuesday, March 19 | 6:30 - 8:30 pm
Human trafficking IS modern day slavery and its happening right here in OUR Communities.
Human Sex Trafficking is big business for organized crime and for local pimps. Its one of those crimes that is hidden in plain sight - meaning, most of the victims go to school, church and live in stable homes. It`s hard to see they are even a victim. Research shows that the average age of recruitment into the commercial sex industry is 12-14 years old and that victims come from every race, ethnicity and socioeconomic background.
Come learn how youth and adults are being coerced into slavery, why they can't see their way out, and how we can keep our families safe.
Keynote Speaker: Theresa Flores  - Best-selling author of "The Slave Across the Street," survivor of sex trafficking and nationally known advocate. Flores shares how she was enslaved at the age of 15 while living with unsuspecting parents in an upper middle-class suburb.
