Accelerate your journey to your degree! Starting in the Fall Semester, LASC students can complete a degree with a transfer guarantee in two years in Business Administration (AS-T) or Early Childhood Education (AS-T.) Attend an information session to get started on your pathway as part of LASC's Pathway of Accelerated Academics for the Working Student program, or PAAWS .
Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, LASC's campus is closed to the public, but classes are offered in a remote learning (online) model using Canvas and all student services and business operations will be offered online and remotely during Summer Session II. The Dream Resource Center in collaboration with Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights (CHIRLA) will be providing a "Getting Papers" workshop at noon Thursday, August 6, in which participants can learn about different immigration options available. Register here .
LASC's women's basketball team is looking for student-athletes for the upcoming season . LASC's Child Development Center is now enrolling children for the new school year and welcoming back returning students. Take some time to fill out an enrollment application here . LASC's new “Student Support Hub” web page in Canvas will provide all students with an area where they can easily access the most widely-used campus support services so that they don’t have to leave the course shell and can find everything conveniently in one place. Learn more.

LASC's  Career Pathways and Job Center  will have a  Mock Interview Workshop  from 10:30 a.m. to noon August 12. Register to learn strategies for a successful job interview. LASC's Career Center will be hosting a virtual Career Assessment Workshop from 10:30 a.m. to noon August 19. Undecided student: Come get support choosing a major. Students with a major: Come find out all the information you need to know about the career that works for you. The center has support for everyone.
As LASC continues to offer its courses remotely in response to the current COVID-19 pandemic, Internet access will be required for participation in many class activities. Several organizations offer low-cost Internet access to students. Contact information for the providers is provided here.
LACCD is working with the Los Angeles Homeless Service Authority to help students with housing issues.  The Campus Peer Navigator Program aims to connect students who are experiencing homelessness or at-risk of homelessness with resources that can end their housing crisis.  Learn more.
The Trump administration has announced it will continue to reject initial Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) applications from immigrants who never obtained the protection from deportation and also limit the renewals for more than 640,000 "Dreamers" enrolled in the program. LASC's Dream Resource Center is united in its commitment to undocumented students and employees. The center has gathered resources to provide support in this effort.
LASC knows there are a lot of questions that students have about the impact the COVID-19 outbreak will have on the college.   • The California Community College Athletic Association Board of Directors has approved the implementation of a contingency plan that would provide a return to intercollegiate athletics for the 2020-21 academic year that shifts all sports, including football, to the spring season. At this time, you can plan to see LASC's football as well as men's and women's basketball teams play again this spring. Learn more.
  • Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) has released a Framework for Racial Equity and Social Justice. The document speaks to the values of LACCD and directs specific action steps and commitments that will allow its colleges and the district to actively build anti-racist organizational capacity and resilience, and move toward a more socially and racially-just academic community, Chancellor Francisco Rodriguez says.

  • During the COVID-19 outbreak, there will be no on-campus activities/events at any of the nine LACCD colleges, including LASC. There will be no gatherings of more than two people and they will need to exercise social distancing of at least six feet apart. Read more.
  • In response to the City of Los Angeles' Worker Protection Order, all LACCD and LASC employees should utilize cloth face coverings when on District property for employee protection against COVID-19. Vendors should also know that face coverings are required on campus. Read more.

  • LGBTQ students can contact the Trevor Project by calling (866) 488-7386 or text START to 678678 for 24/7 information.
  • The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender National Hotline is available from 1-9 p.m. daily at (800) 273-8255.
  • Call or text the Victims of Crime Resource Center at (800) 842-8467 for help.
  • Los Angeles County is offering mental health services for individuals suffering loneliness or anxiety amid the pandemic and have set up a number to call for resources. The Department of Mental Health can be contacted 24 hours a day, seven days a week at (800) 854-7771.
  • All of the providers and staff at LASC's Student Health Center operated by Mosaic Family Care are committed to supporting the health and mental health needs of all students.   • Free training put on by the Community Response System of South Los Angeles Education Recovery Committee to support educators and help students excel in virtual learning is available during workshops in August and September. Learn more.
  • The Los Angeles County Department of Public Social Services is aware of the financial impact that the Coronavirus is having on the health and financial well-being of County of Los Angeles residents. The department has provided these resources to help residents who may be experiencing financial challenges due to the pandemic.
  • To assist residential renters who have been economically impacted by the Coronavirus, the Mayor and the City Council have adopted tenant protections on evictions and rent increases in the City of Los Angeles.
