LASC students who borrowed books, laptops, or any other items from LASC's Bookstore, Child Development Department, Library, or the Promise program during the 2020 Spring Semester are asked to return these rental items to campus from noon to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 28. Learn more .
Guidelines and processes for faculty and staff to return to campus to collect items necessary to continue to work remotely have been announced. Faculty and staff may request access to campus under these guidelines .

LASC's women's basketball team is looking for players for the upcoming season . As LASC continues to offer its courses remotely in response to the current COVID-19 pandemic, Internet access will be required for participation in many class activities. Several organizations offer low-cost Internet access to students. Contact information for the providers is provided here.
LACCD is working with the Los Angeles Homeless Service Authority to help students with housing issues.  The Campus Peer Navigator Program aims to connect students who are experiencing homelessness or at-risk of homelessness with resources that can end their housing crisis.  Learn more.

The California Community College Athletic Association Board of Directors has approved the implementation of a contingency plan that would provide a return to intercollegiate athletics for the 2020-21 academic year that shifts all sports, including football, to the spring season. At this time, you can plan to see LASC's football as well as men's and women's basketball teams play again this spring. Learn more.

The board consists of Teissy Angel Ramirez, President; Kenneth Sanchez, Executive Vice President; Javiyan Jones, Administrative Vice President; Michelle Booker, Secretary; Humzah Farrukh, Treasurer; and Selena Lopez, Chief Justice. Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) has released a Framework for Racial Equity and Social Justice . The document speaks to the values of LACCD and directs specific action steps and commitments that will allow its colleges and the district to actively build anti-racist organizational capacity and resilience, and move toward a more socially and racially-just academic community, Chancellor Francisco Rodriguez says.

  • LACCD's Board of Trustees this month took a bold, forward-looking step as pro-environment stewards to eliminate the District’s carbon-energy use, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and to protect the vulnerable communities the District serves from the negative impacts of the climate change crisis with the adoption of its Clean Energy and Sustainability resolution.   • LASC's Theatre Program was recently recognized nationally by the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts for their production of "Criminal," an incredibly powerful and moving piece. "Criminal" was recognized with the following accolades: The Kennedy Center Citizen Artist Award, Outstanding Production Ensemble, and Outstanding Company-Generated Work.
  • LASC's Trio Scholars, a federally funded program designed to assist participants in achieving their educational goals, has released its Graduation/Transfer Celebration newsletter highlighting its graduates. The graduates are fighters who have overcame extreme adversity and will continue to fight for their future. The TRiO Scholars office is extremely proud of the students and encourage them to be tenacious and continue to accomplish their dreams.
  • During the COVID-19 outbreak, there will be no on-campus activities/events at any of the nine LACCD colleges, including LASC. There will be no gatherings of more than two people and they will need to exercise social distancing of at least six feet apart. Read more.

  • Los Angeles County is offering mental health services for individuals suffering loneliness or anxiety amid the pandemic and have set up a number to call for resources. The Department of Mental Health can be contacted 24 hours a day, seven days a week at (800) 854-7771.
  • The Los Angeles County Department of Public Social Services is aware of the financial impact that the Coronavirus is having on the health and financial well-being of County of Los Angeles residents. The department has provided these resources to help residents who may be experiencing financial challenges due to the pandemic.
  • To assist residential renters who have been economically impacted by the Coronavirus, the Mayor and the City Council have adopted tenant protections on evictions and rent increases in the City of Los Angeles.
