LACCD's Board of Trustees has approved the offering of a Supplementary Retirement Plan (SRP) to District employees who are eligible to retire under CalPERS or CalSTRS. Learn more and review the FAQ. Even though LASC's physical library is closed, faculty librarians are available to provide research instruction on a variety of topics. If you are interested in having a librarian visit your class, submit an instruction request form and a librarian will be assigned to your class.
LASC's Winter Session schedule has just been released. Winter Session classes last just five weeks from January 4, 2021, to February 7, 2021. Learn more. Fall Semester's Late-Start Classes are just eight weeks and last from October 26 to December 20, 2020. View the schedule.
The Los Angeles Community Colleges remains committed to standing with DACA recipients and other undocumented immigrants and providing them with educational opportunities. LASC's next Logo Refresh Presidential Taskforce meeting will be from 10 a.m. to noon October 14. The meeting will include a review of sketches of potential logos. LACCD's Office for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion will have standing Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) training for hiring committee members and EEO representatives during the 2020 Fall Semester. LASC's Lakin Fitness and Wellness Center will serve as an in-person voting center from October 24 to November 3 for the upcoming General Election. Voters will be able to cast their ballots in-person or drop-off their mail-in ballots from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. October 24 to November 2 and from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Election Day, November 3. LASC's Trio Scholars Program's goal is to assist students in obtaining their associate's degree and transfer to a four-year college/university of their choice. The program will have Zoom orientations at noon on Mondays and Wednesdays through this Wednesday, October 7. All students are welcome to check them out. Learn more.

LASC's Dream Resource Center will host a series of informational events throughout the Fall Semester. Learn more about them here. All are invited to participate and connect. On Tuesday, October 6, the center and the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights will offer legal consultations from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The center embraces and celebrates diversity and aims to be a resource for undocumented immigrant students and their families.
LASC is in the process of updating its Strategic Education Master Plan for the next five years. The opinions, feedback, and voice from students are all important to this process. On Wednesday, October 7, from 10 a.m. to noon, LASC's Academic Affairs Office is hosting a Zoom open forum just for students to discuss questions related to improving LASC. The petition process to qualify as a Fall 2020 graduate or to receive a certificate will finish this Thursday, October 8. Students are invited to review their graduation eligibility with a college counselor as their petition will only be accepted if signed or approved by a counselor. If students have questions, they should contact a counselor via live chat.
LASC's Student Success Center will present a workshop at 1 p.m. Tuesday, October 6, titled "7 Reading Strategies You Should Know!" This workshop on Zoom will discuss techniques for processing what students read and recalling information after they read and much more. Learn more.
