Important Message from Pastor Paul and the HUMC Staff
|
Dear HUMC Family,
Earlier this week we notified you that we had a staff member showing symptoms of being ill with the Covid virus. The staff member is still dealing with mild symptoms. The staff member has been tested and is awaiting results of the Covid test. We are proceeding as if the result will be positive. The staff member will not be present until symptoms are long gone and risk of exposure to others is mitigated.
We do plan to offer in-person worship on Sunday. Charles Morrow has worked diligently to plan a beautiful offering of Christmas music and we want you to be able to experience that in person if you desire. We want you to be aware that we are following all protocols to offer in-person worship safely. We have sprayed. We will spray between services. We are checking temperatures. We are insisting on mask wearing. We are asking for physical distance to be maintained at all times coming in, during, and after the service. Any staff member that is present on Sunday will have either received a negative Covid test or won't be present. None of these protocols can guarantee your safety from the virus. If you feel that your health would be compromised in any way with exposure to the virus, you should plan to stay at home and watch the service via Facebook or on our website, humconline.org. We want to encourage you to make informed, discerning decisions about your health and it is absolutely acceptable and right to stay at home and participate in worship virtually.
We promise to continue to make decisions that are in the best interests of our church family, following the example of care and concern set forth in our Lord Jesus Christ, and in keeping with the first general rule of our leader in the Methodist movement, John Wesley, when he said, "Do no harm." Please let me know of your concerns and questions. As always, we are grateful for your support and for the ways that you faithfully witness to the grace of God in Jesus Christ.
Join me in prayer for our staff member who is ill and for all of those impacted by this pandemic.
Grace and Peace,
Paul B. Thompson
Senior Pastor
