Dear Parents and Guardians of St. Francis of Assisi School,

Three words come to mind as we close this week at St. Francis of Assisi School:  grateful, thankful, and blessed. This week we are grateful for Mrs. Hill and her amazing team of volunteers who helped bring to life our first ever SFA Fun Zone.  Students who sold $250 or more of cookie dough or candles for our Fall fundraiser received a special admission ticket to enter the First Annual Fun Zone.  We were thrilled to have over 185 students participate. They enjoyed ginormous hot dogs, unlimited popcorn, handspun cotton candy, and lots of carnival games with fantastic prizes.  The smiles on the faces of our students warmed the hearts of all of our volunteers and staff who worked this event.

Today, we were thankful for the In and Out Burger fundraising truck.  This amazing crew pulled on campus and patiently served over 800 hamburgers to our SFA Community.  The weather on campus is truly a unique microclimate and today was no exception. While we were carting burgers and beverages to classrooms, it rained, poured, and even hailed on the volunteers!  Thank you to Mrs. Kaufman, Mrs. Pigott, and all of the Academic Decathlon Parents who persevered through the elements today to help us serve our students and families who visited on campus. Thank you to all of our families for generously supporting our Academic Decathlon program which builds upon our rich tradition of academic excellence.

Finally, I reflect on how blessed we are to have a tri-parish community where we witness the vocation of priesthood represented so beautifully in our pastors and associate pastors.  On Monday and Tuesday, our students were able to receive the sacrament of Reconciliation, which focuses on cleaning our spiritual homes in preparation for a new liturgical season.  Advent is right around the corner and our students really seemed to embrace this opportunity for quiet reflection, demonstrating genuine repentance, and rediscovering a new sense of spiritual focus.  As we gather around our tables on Thanksgiving next Thursday, let us be ever mindful of the gift
of freedom to celebrate and express our Catholic Christian faith tradition in our homes, at church, and in our school community.  May your time away from school spent with loved ones be richly blessed.

In profound thanksgiving,

Jeannette Lambert
Principal
