Dear St. Francis of Assisi School Parents and Guardians,

Happy All Saints Eve Day!  We are so looking forward to celebrating Mass with our third grade "saints in the making" tomorrow at Santa Clara de Asis Church at 10 am.  We hope you can join us for the celebration! Families really are the center of what we do at St. Francis of Assisi School.

This week I am highlighting our upcoming Family Mission Workshop on November 6th at 8 am or 6:15 pm.  This is a free opportunity for parents to come and receive some amazing "soul" food. Our speaker, Pam Hurwitz, is absolutely dynamic and relatable to our everyday joys and challenges as parents.  She has been in the trenches raising her family, including two grown SFA alumni, Jyllian and Joseph. She has background as a Youth Minister at San Antonio de Padua for over 10 years and worked in Ministry at the Diocese of Orange.  As a mother myself, I have worked with Pam and heard her speak in many settings and always come away with jewels of wisdom and hope that I can bring home to my family.

This Friday, our faculty will be working at an on-site inservice for the new Religion standards we are implementing over the next two years.  Providing our students with a head and heart knowledge of their faith requires both school and home to come together as a community. When talking with parents about family faith at home, I often hear how hard it is to balance faith, schoolwork, extracurricular activities  and time as a family.  Parents desire the tools to build their families in faith. We highly encourage even one parent from each family to attend either the morning or the evening session. Through laughter and experience, Pam will help us understand the importance of a "family mission" which does not require additional time outside of normal family activities.  The resources offered make our jobs as faith leaders of our home very easy! Pope Francis was recently quoted as saying, "Christian families are missionary families. ...They are missionaries in everyday life, in their doing everyday things..." As always, we thank you for entrusting your children's spiritual and academic needs to our care! We are truly blessed.

All Souls Day - November 2nd

Spend some extra time this week praying for those you have loved that have gone to Heaven.

On the Feast Day of All Souls, on November 2nd , we celebrate and pray for all of the deceased.

Family Faith Idea:

Pull out the framed pictures of your deceased loved ones and put them in a special place in your home. Each night of the week, light a candle and say a special prayer for each of these people.

Sharing stories and memories will be a beautiful experience for your family.

Remind your children that even though they are no longer with us here, that we can always talk to and pray for our family in Heaven. They are with us always!
