Dear St. Francis of Assisi School Parents and Guardians,

The energy and excitement on campus is very high for our 20th Anniversary Celebration tomorrow!  The tent arrived and looks beautiful on the field. Final preparations are being made for our Liturgy, lunch and blessing of the animals.  We are so thankful for all the volunteers and staff who are working hard to make this day exceptional for all of our families and special guests.

This is my sixteenth year on staff at St. Francis of Assisi School.  I remember the feeling as I stepped on campus to interview with Debbie Vallas, then Debbie Declues.  The campus itself was absolutely gorgeous and there was a beautiful spirit of community and strong faith in Christ.  Debbie shared her joy, passion and vision for the school that she helped to build. Her example of leadership first inspired me to discern the role of school administration and I am forever grateful for her example and witness to the Gospel.

As I reflect on my past fifteen years here, so much has happened both on campus and in our world.  Technology looked very different on campus with a tech lab full of personal computers (PCs) and the high tech phone at that time was the Blackberry.  Now the school has an Innovation Center and educational technology is integrated at all grade levels.

When I began as the school counselor, 9/11 had occurred just two years prior and there was a general feel of anxiety about the world in which we were raising our children.  Together as a community, St. Francis School worked to remind our children that there will always be hope in the world, even in dark times. This beacon of light on the hill in Yorba Linda has been a place of hope for thousands of students over the past 20 years.  So many faculty and staff have dedicated their time, talents and treasures to ensure our students have role models of faith in action. We are so proud of our alumni who have taken the gifts that they received here and continued to nurture and grow their talents in high school and beyond, making a difference in the world in which we all live.  Let us pray for the continued success and growth of our school!

Extended Care Aide - Ben Jansen

We are excited to have Ben join our Extended Care Program.  Ben might be a familiar face to some because he spends his summers as a Camp Director at Us In The Son at St. Martins.

What do you love most about your summers at Us In The Son?

I love the traditions that are carried on from year to year.  It is exciting to have an influence on these young children as they grow in their faith.

What are you looking forward to the most about working at SFA?

I have worked in daycare previously but this will be the first time doing so in a faith based environment. It will be nice to include faith in all of the activities with the kids.  I am also looking forward to bringing a lot of the fun activities from Us In The Son to SFA!
SFA Musical Production

We are excited to present Peter Pan Jr., our 3rd Annual Spring production.  Attached are the "Important Dates" for auditions, rehearsals, and performances.  We hope all of our young stars will come out to auditions.  No experience is necessary and all students will be given a role in the play!
