Dear Parents and Guardians of St. Francis of Assisi School,

This Saturday, our Academic Decathletes will compete at Santa Margarita High School in the Diocese of Orange Junior High Academic Decathlon.   These students have been preparing with their coaches for months now for a rigorous competition. They will begin with a team logic competition.  Much gratitude goes out to our volunteer logic coach Mrs. Thai Ta Nguyen, who has worked tirelessly preparing the students and opening her home on weekends to prepare our team.  Then students will take individual tests in their subject area of focus and finally, the team will compete against other schools in the Super Quiz event. The Super Quiz takes place in front of a live audience at 12:30 pm in the gymnasium.  SFA families are welcome to come and cheer on the decathletes to show our support for their hard work! All students who show up to support our team will earn free dress on Monday, March 9. Decathletes we are praying for you!

The following Saturday, March 14, is our Annual Auction Gala.  This is the largest fundraiser our school hosts and the proceeds from this event help to keep down the cost of tuition, as well as fund special projects identified to support our students.  We are hearing that many families are attending but just have not turned in their tickets yet. Now is the time to turn them in!   We need to share our reservation requests with the Irvine Marriott this Friday so please stop by the office to purchase your tickets tomorrow.  This is a fun evening out and we are working hard on the agenda to ensure you have time to socialize, dance, and shop for the items you've had your eye on in our silent or live auction.  Show your support for SFA by joining us at The Greatest Show!

Keeping Our Students Healthy
Local health officials continue to emphasize common-sense steps to prevent the spread of respiratory illnesses, including:
  • Avoiding close contact with people who are sick
  • Avoiding touching your eyes, nose and mouth
  • Staying home when you are sick
  • Covering your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throwing the tissue in the trash
  • Cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe
  • Washing your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom, before eating and after blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing (If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60 percent alcohol.)
Please keep your children home if they show signs of illness:  fever, vomiting, excessive coughing with mucus, or nasal drainage with green mucus.  Child must be fever and vomit free for 24 hours before returning to school.  Together we can keep our children safe!
