Dear St. Francis of Assisi School Parents and Guardians,

Change can come in many forms in our lives.  Sometimes change is welcomed and anticipated and other times it surprises us when we least expect it.  Change can force us to adapt in ways we did not anticipate, but it can also provide new opportunities for growth and strength.

I believe that our perception, and our thought process, truly guides our reaction to change when it occurs in our lives. What we tell ourselves about the change can drive our emotions in a positive or negative manner. The exciting news is that we are in control of our own reaction even when we cannot control life events.

Our school community received word of some changes last week.  I love this quote by Jim Rohn that states, "Your life does not get better by chance, it gets better by change." While this is my first year as your Principal, this is my sixteenth year serving in this school community. I love the St. Francis of Assisi School community and wholeheartedly believe in what this school has to offer for our students.  I hold dear the charism of our patron, St. Francis, and believe that our school provides a whole child education so desperately needed in our world. We form a strong moral compass in our students so that as they graduate and move on to high school, they keep God at the center of all they do and say.  I want you to know that I am prepared, energized, and ready to continue the work necessary to build enrollment, support our families faith development, and provide an excellent academic experience for our students.

Embracing change,

Jeannette Lambert
Principal

In last Sunday's gospel reading, Jesus relates the Beatitudes that he delivers during the Sermon on the Mount to our lives. Here are the beatitudes to meditate on. Which one is speaking most to you?

Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are they who mourn,
for they will be comforted.

Blessed are the meek,
for they will inherit the land.

Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they will be satisfied.

Blessed are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.

Blessed are the clean in heart,
for they will see God.

Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called children of God.

Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
