Dear St. Francis of Assisi School Parents and Guardians,

Graduation for the Class of 2019 is two days away.  It is hard to believe that for some of these students, their ten-year journey is coming to a close and a new chapter is beginning. One of the gifts of elementary education is that we have the opportunity and blessing of journeying with students and their families during their most formative years of growth.  From early childhood where parents have difficulty leaving their students behind all the way to junior high where parents gladly welcome carline volunteers to open the door to begin a new day!  The growth we witness as staff, faculty, and administration is tremendous.

Yesterday, the Class of 2020 honored our graduates with a beautiful rock and roll themed brunch in the Fr. Seamus Glynn Center.  The students and parents transformed our hall to the rock and roll hall of fame, with our students names decorating the room. Every student had a 33 record on the wall, which thanks to the popularity of record players coming back, the students appreciated signing each other's vinyl.  The skit they performed highlighted potential careers for our graduates, ranging from astronauts, nurses, doctors, veterinarians, olympiads, and future NBA stars. Imagine if all their dreams came true.

Many of our graduates will be attending Mater Dei, Rosary, Servite, and Santa Margarita High School.  Students who have taken the entrance exams have scored well and many of our graduates will be placed in Honors and Advanced courses for English, Math, and Foreign Language.  An impressive amount of our students received scholarships based on merit, character, and overall achievement. Tonight, representatives from these schools will join us in presenting awards to our students.  As Principal, I am beaming with pride not only for what they have accomplished, but who they have become. I believe that the Class of 2019 will dare to be courageous and will share the gifts and talents that God has given each one of them in the future.

Hats off to the Class of 2019,

Jeannette Lambert
Principal

Safety Concern
Whether you pick up at Santa Clara or in the school parking lot, there are students walking everywhere at pickup time.  Please drive slowly and cautiously through all parking lots.  Several students were almost hit by cars backing out yesterday in Santa Clara parking lot.  Thank you for driving carefully to keep our children safe!

COMMUNITY NEWS

Us in the Son was established in 1979 and is a Catholic based day camp that focuses on the qualities of the rainbow; love, courage, joy, growth, peace, faith, and hope. Throughout the summer we sing songs, do crafts, travel to the beach and the park, and praise the Lord. We are so excited to be kicking off the 41st summer of Us in the Son! We welcome all returners and newcomers!

Campers are placed into color groups based on their age -- purples are the youngest (Pre-K and K) and reds are the oldest (5th and 6th graders). Throughout your child's time at camp they will learn the importance of these qualities, engage in a variety of activities, make new friends, and understand the meaning of God's love. A week at camp includes plenty of crafts, singing, and games at the church campus, as well as a trip to the park on Tuesday! For more information and registration details, click the link.
