Dear St. Francis of Assisi Parents and Guardians,

Cheers to the Class of 2020!  They are counting down the days left of instruction - 7 to be exact!  This class has left a lasting impression on St. Francis of Assisi School.  Some of these students began their journey with us ten years ago and others just this year.  The amount of time here on campus does not diminish the impact they have made on the student body, parents, faculty, staff and administration.  Every class has unique energy and passion and brings their own legacy of leadership to our campus.
We are so thankful that our eighth grade students were able to remain on campus with us through mid-March.  Some of the highlights of their year include the spirit rally in November where they showed valiant effort to win the spirit stick.  Although another class held it temporarily, I was so proud of their sportsmanship and school spirit and their commitment to bring on the fire for their comeback in the spring.  Next they traveled to Los Angeles on a train in December to celebrate liturgy at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels.  Our students were altar servers and brought up the offertory gifts and the celebrant recognized our school and prayed for our students.  We then walked to Homegirl Cafe and enjoyed lunch and learned about the ministry of Fr. Gregory Boyle.  Finally, in March we went on an overnight retreat at the Divine Word Seminary in Riverside.  Campus ministry from Santa Margarita High School facilitated the talks and led us in praise and worship for a day and a half.  One of the most beautiful memories I will cherish of this class was how reverent and authentically prayerful they were during the Sacrament of Reconciliation and Adoration.  The faith of these young disciples touched the hearts of all who were there to be witnesses.

Parents, your investment in Catholic education has made a difference. These young men and women are well-prepared to be leaders in their high schools.  They are ready to self-advocate and speak up for others where there is injustice.  They know how to pray and support one another when life presents challenges.  Together they embody the spirit of St. Francis in the way they played together, prayed together, and persevered through distance learning.  Their road has not been easy but this gives our community even more reason to celebrate these young people!  Class of 2020 - we love you - we are proud of you - and we look forward to the day when together, we will celebrate you!

Hats off,

Jeannette Lambert

SCHOOL NEWS
FACTS Tuition Agreements
We quickly discovered that FACTS had a glitch in the tuition agreement system program and has duplicated tuition agreements for many of our families.  Our business office is working with FACTS and the Diocese to rectify this situation as quickly as possible.  However, due to this technical error, tuition payment withdrawals may not begin until the week of May 25.  If your account received a duplicate agreement, please simply email accounting@sfayl.org and let us know.  Thank you for your patience and understanding.
May 29 - School In Session
On our original calendar, we did not have school on May 29, due to graduation for our Class of 2020.  Since this has been postponed until a later date, we will have school on May 29 so that we can end this school year one day sooner on Thursday, June 11!  20 days of school left (but who's counting).
Friday is the LAST day to buy a yearbook!
Thankfully we were able to complete our SFA Yearbook the week before we had to take our COVID-19 break!  Click here to purchase your 2019-2020 yearbook to relive the fun times that were made on campus.  The final day to order is May 15th.

DC Dining Survey
We would greatly appreciate your help by completing this brief survey no later than May 19th regarding D.C. Dining. As you are aware, a great amount of fundraising takes place that allows our 8th graders to participate in the East Coast Study Trip each spring. Please consider making a donation to the Class of 2021.  All refunds will be issued by check May 22.
Silent Auction Baskets
As you know, we were unable to host our Spring Auction Gala before this school year ends.  There are many baskets, such as class projects, that were lovingly created especially for 2019-2020 classes.  We want families to have an opportunity to purchase these and a few other items online next week.  The proceeds from these baskets support the work we do here at St. Francis of Assisi School.  Look for an email early next week when we launch the silent auction.  Happy Bidding!
