Dear Parents and Guardians of St. Francis of Assisi School,

"Wise men speak because they have something to say; Fools because they have to say something." - Plato
Communication is the foundation for our successful partnership between school and home at St. Francis of Assisi.  We utilize and refine our forms of communication to provide timely, effective, and succinct delivery of relevant information on events, culture, and important updates.  Though we have several tools to deliver information, we intentionally utilize each method for a specific purpose. Weekly we provide the e-newsletter which includes digital fliers, campus updates, and upcoming events at our local parishes and high schools.  On average, we have an open rate of 65% for our weekly e-news which tells me that there is room for growth in our communication.
With the re-launch of our updated app this week, we can now send parents a text message when the newsletter is delivered electronically.  Please be sure that you have our SFAYL app downloaded so that you can be notified in a timely manner. One of the exciting features of our newly released app is that you can record your child's absence conveniently on your phone with a digital signature.  There is no need to call the office and report an absence!
We are working on cutting budget costs this year and one way to do so is by reducing copies and paper fliers that are sent home to families already digitally in the newsletter and then physically in the Thursday folder.  This will be a gradual process as we work to partner to be a more "green" friendly school by sending home less fliers. You can help us by printing and downloading forms from the newsletter and checking the new SFAYL app for updates on important deadlines.
I deliberately reduced the number of phone calls from the school during the first trimester as we received many complaints that the phone blasts were excessive in the past.  Moving forward, phone blasts sent out during the school day will signify that there is an emergency or safety threat to the school or if you receive a call from the office, it will be for concern that has occurred during the day with your child.  Phone blasts after 3 pm will be used to update families on school events and deadlines. Text alerts appear to be the preferred method of communication from parent feedback. We will continue to use text alerts to keep parents updated and reminded.  It is our goal to ensure that we are not over communicating non-relevant information but rather effectively communicating pertinent news for our families.

Parent Teacher Conferences
Parent feedback is an essential component for our self evaluation of success.  When feedback is delivered in a positive and constructive manner it allows us the opportunity to collaberate and brain storm as administration and faculty for process improvement.  Everything we do should benefit our children.

Please take 5 minutes to complete this survey about your experience with Parent/Teacher Conferences this year.  With the completion of this survey, your child(ren) will earn free dress on Monday, December 9th.
