Dear St. Francis of Assisi Parents and Guardians,

I am happy to report we have 31 days of school remaining until Summer!  Much gratitude goes out to our dedicated families who have embodied our charism of perseverance since we returned from Spring Break.  Thank you to the families that have sent our teachers and administration notes of appreciation and gratitude.  In times like this, these gestures fuel us and remind us that the important work we do together is making a difference for your children.

I love the Mastercard commercials that highlight the monetary value of different material goods and finish their advertising focusing on a personal value that is "priceless."   We are blessed to have a "priceless" staff member on campus every day, rain or shine.  When I think of words that describe this humble servant, a few are:  talented, determined, resourceful, committed, and loyal.  We fondly call him, "The Boss," because no one else on this campus knows it as well as he does.  Mr. Rodriguez has worked to keep our campus not only running well, but aesthetically beautiful every day of the year.  I can think of no one who works harder than him and for that, I will be forever grateful.

While you have been off-campus, Mr. Rodriguez has been on-campus focusing his time, effort, and energy on a long list of projects.  Not a day goes by that he isn't committed to important work focusing on safety, security, and/or improving an area on campus.  He has sanded and refinished all of the upper grade science lab tables and the large daycare table, dug trenches to run and install electrical outlets in the entry planters for special events' evening lighting, and installed hand sanitizing units in every single classroom on campus.  His most recent project was our grotto for Mary.  He worked on levelling out and installing new bricks, poured a concrete border to replace the old wood, and installed uplighting for Mary to be seen well in the evening.  Tomorrow he begins work on installing a new fence for the preschool playground to make sure it is safe and secure for our littlest students.  Additional thanks goes to Mr. Ben Jansen and alumni, Garrett Nieto (Class of 2012) who have been working so very hard to bring Mr. Rodriguez's visions for SFA to life.

Mr. Rodriguez - our school loves you and appreciates all that you do so very much!  SFA is so grateful that we are the only school to have "THE BOSS!"

Honoring our own SFA hero,

Jeannette Lambert
Principal

Teacher Appreciation Week of Gratitude - May 4 - 8

Teacher Appreciation Week of Gratitude is next week May 4-8! This year, we will use virtual tools to express our thanks and gratitude to our teachers who continue to work tirelessly during this time. As a result of these trying times we know families are facing different scenarios with some very real stressors added to their lives. Please know participation in TAW is optional. There are a variety of options that require very little time and no financial commitment. A heartfelt email or prayer from a student goes a long way! We hope you will do what you can with what works for your current situation. Look for details on how your class is coordinating efforts in communications from your TAW Class Rep. Please have fun getting creative and making this an extra special week for our teachers. If you have any questions, contact your TAW Class Rep or Tracy Foye, TAW Chairperson, at   tracyfoye@gmail.com.
