Patten Free Library Weekly News and Updates

August 25, 2023

Hello Patten Free,

The nights are getting cooler and summer is winding down. As much as we might hate to admit it, fall is in the air, which can only mean one thing: it's almost time to go back to school!

The good news is that our Teen Pantry is stocked with back-to-school supplies, toiletries, and snacks. The Teen Pantry is a free resource available in the Teen Space for anyone in grades 7-12 who needs it. The supplies are sourced through donations from community members and the Bath Area Food Bank.

From August 28 though September 9 we will be holding the Teen Closet, a free clothing giveaway in the Teen Space. Stop by and raid our closet!

Interested in donating? There is a donation bin in the lobby and PFL is always looking for the following items:

  • Unopened toiletry items, such as toothbrushes, soap, feminine hygiene products, and shampoo (especially travel sizes).
  • Unopened non-perishable food items, such as ramen and granola bars.
  • Unused school supplies, such as notebooks and pencils.

Please help us spread the word!

Did you know?

While you will no longer be shushed for talking in the Library, we do have a quiet space for those who prefer it. Our Reading Room has big windows, comfy chairs, magazines, and lots of light. It's also the oldest part of the building and contains historical paintings and books and a model of the Six Masted Schooner Wyoming. Turn right at the circulation desk and head down the hall.
