Dear parishioners,
Christ is Risen!
Allow me to take this opportunity to thank all of you who help our Cathedral and our parish community financially and morally during these challenging times. It is really encouraging to see that letters arrive daily, either by regular mail or electronically with encouraging words and also with your donations for our church. Through these gestures, you show that although not physically present at our church, your heart is still with us.
The other day, in speaking with a regular attendee to Sunday services prior to the pandemic, I thanked this individual for continuing to wholeheartedly support our church every week. The reply I received was inspiring, "Don't worry, Father, I need a church even when I'm not there, and I will need it when I return from this forced vacation." God willing, our church will be here for a long time, and we pray to God that the doors will soon be wide open for all of us to gather together and pray. In a time like this, we see the true value of stewardship, which we continue to develop in our parish. Thanks to the regular assistance of a number of our parishioners, our parish continues to function smoothly. I hope that in the near future a majority of you will embrace this concept and become stewards of the parish by supporting it through volunteer work (inside and outside of our facility) as well financial donations.
Once again, thank you all for your support on behalf of our church, and may God and St. Sava give you every good in abundance, first and foremost good health. God willing, we see each other soon in the church.

Драги парохијани,
Христос Воскресе!
Користим ову прилику да се путем овог седмичног билтена захвалим свима вама који помажете наш Саборни храм и нашу парохијску заједницу финансијски и морално. Заиста је охрабрујуће да видимо да свакодневно од вас стижу писма, било регуларном поштом, било електронски са речима подршке али и са вашим прилозима. На тај начин показујете да, иако физики нисте присутни овде, да је ваше срце овде.
Пре неки дан разговарам са једним мојим парохијанином, иначе редовним учесником богослужења пре пандемије, па му успут захвалим што је наставио свесрдно да помаже наш храм сваке седмице, а он каже: "Не брини оче за то, треба мени црква и кад ја нисам ту, а требаће ми и кад се вратим са овог "принудног одмора"." Ако Бог да, биће она овде још дуго, а молимо се Богу да ће у скорије време врата бити широм отворена за све вас који једва чекате да дођете и да се заједно Богу помолимо.
У времену као што је ово, видимо праву вредност старатељства које још увек развијамо у нашој парохији. Захваљујући редовној подршци једног броја наших парохијана, наша парохија наставља да функционише неометано. Надам се да није далеко дан када ће већина наших парохијана постати старатељи тј. они који се брину и старају за свој храм помажући у његовом одржавању, сређивању, улепшавању баште, певајући у хору или га помажуђи финансијски.
Још једном, захваљујем свима вама на подршци у име наше цркве и молим се Богу и Св. Сави да вам подари сваког добра у изобиљу а најпре доброг здравља. Ако Бог да, видимо се ускоро у цркви.

In Memoriam Ђорђе Драганић

Ђорђе Драганић је рођен 7. маја, 1957. године у селу Подсречу код Славонске Пожеге, од оца Луке и мајке Невенке. У Америку се доселио 1998. г. Ђорђе је био велики човјек великог срца. Позитиван и насмијан. Велики домаћин. Послије дуге болести напустио нас је 3. маја, 2020. За собом је оставио супругу Петру, кћерке Биљану и Драгану, унуке Ђорђа и Лазара, и зета Бранка.

Church Roof Repaired/ Поправка црквеног крова
|
|
During recent storm with winds gusting more than 60 miles per hour, our slate roof was damaged when cover piеce from the bell tower fell down and broke few slates. We are happy to report that the damage has been repaired and the roof restored. This was emergency repair but few areas of the roof will require additional attention later. Maintenance for other systems in church building is taking place on a regular basis including heating and cooling, fire suppression systems, alarm systems, etc.

За време недавног невремена које је задесило околину када је дувао ветар преко 60 миља на сат дошло је до оштећења крова када је спао поклопац са звоника и разбио неколико камених црепова. У међувремену је штета отклоњена и кров је рестауриран. Ово је била хитна поправка мада је запажено да ће на још пар места на крову бити потребно додатних радова. Поред овога у цркви се ради редовно на одржавању осталих система као што су системи за грејање и хлађење, противпожарни системи, аларм итд.

А потом беше празник јеврејски, и изиђе Исус у Јерусалим. У Јерусалиму, пак, код Овчијих врата има бања, која се зове јеврејски Витезда, и око ње пет покривених тремова, У којима лежаше мноштво болесника, слепих, хромих, сувих, који чекаху да се заљуја вода; Јер анђео Господњи силажаше у одређено време у бању и мућаше воду; и који најпре улажаше пошто се замути вода, оздрављаше, макар каква болест да је на њему. А онде беше један човек који тридесет и осам година беше болестан. Кад виде Исус овог где лежи, и разуме да је већ одавно болестан, рече му: Хоћеш ли да будеш здрав? Одговори Му болесни: Да, Господе; али немам човека да ме спусти у бању кад се замути вода; а док ја дођем други сиђе пре мене. Рече му Исус: Устани, узми одар свој и ходи. И одмах оздрави човек, и узевши одар свој хођаше. А тај дан беше субота. Тада говораху Јевреји ономе што оздрави: Данас је субота и не ваља ти одра носити. А он им одговори: Који ме исцели он ми рече: Узми одар свој и ходи. А они га запиташе: Ко је тај човек који ти рече: Узми одар свој и ходи? А исцељени не знаше ко је; јер се Исус уклони, јер људства много беше на месту. А потом га нађе Исус у цркви и рече му: Ето си здрав, више не греши, да ти не буде горе. А човек отиде и каза Јеврејима да је оно Исус који га исцели.

Sunday of the Paralytic
After this there was a feast of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. Now there is in Jerusalem by the Sheep Gate a pool, which is called in Hebrew, Bethesda, having five porches. In these lay a great multitude of sick people, blind, lame, paralyzed, waiting for the moving of the water. For an angel went down at a certain time into the pool and stirred up the water; then whoever stepped in first, after the stirring of the water, was made well of whatever disease he had. Now a certain man was there who had an infirmity thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he already had been in that condition a long time, He said to him, “Do you want to be made well?” The sick man answered Him, “Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up; but while I am coming, another steps down before me.” Jesus said to him, “Rise, take up your bed and walk.” And immediately the man was made well, took up his bed, and walked. And that day was the Sabbath. The Jews therefore said to him who was cured, “It is the Sabbath; it is not lawful for you to carry your bed.” He answered them, “He who made me well said to me, ‘Take up your bed and walk.’” Then they asked him, “Who is the Man who said to you, ‘Take up your bed and walk’?” But the one who was healed did not know who it was, for Jesus had withdrawn, a multitude being in that place. Afterward Jesus found him in the temple, and said to him, “See, you have been made well. Sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon you.” The man departed and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had made him well.
