SPRING WINE DINNER THIS SATURDAY @ AYC
BOOTLEGGERS BALL NEXT WEEK
EASTER WEEKEND COMPLETE AGENDA
|
|
Dear Friends and Members,
by Geoff Monical
Spring Wine Dinner This Saturday, April 1st - Act FAST!
There are still a very few spots left for our first wine dinner at AYC to be hosted by our new Food and Beverage Director Andrew Niemeyer.
Pre-dinner cocktails start at 6:30 pm and the wine dinner begins at 7 pm sharp.
You must call right away as we are almost full for this sure to be fantastic evening that will feature wines from Triumph Cellars, which as many of you know has several local membership connections and is already a membership favorite.
This will be a very intimate evening and give you the chance to meet Andy and start to learn from his extensive wine expertise.
Check out the amazing menu below and call right away to make your reservations, which are of course required.
On behalf of Triumph Cellars and Calistoga Cellars, Arrowhead Yacht Club cordially invites you to attend our first wine dinner of the 2017 season. This dinner will feature all six current releases by winemaker Barry Gnekow and his crew.
For those who may not already know, the winery has deep Oklahoma connections. Tulsans Melanie and Tom Tate, Suzan and David Wadley, and Joe Harwood (all members of the clubs) have an ownership stake in Calistoga & Triumph Cellars.
The winery is focused on small releases of high quality wines, with only about 10,000 total cases available in a given vintage. Additionally, the sales are concentrated in just a handful of states, where the brand has an owner-advocate, creating a grassroots approach to growth.
We will have extra bottles and cases of Triumph Wine available for purchase at the dinner at Retail Liquor store prices without automatic gratuity.
Bootlegger's Ball Is Only A Week Away - Will You Be There?
Make plans now to join us at CYC on Saturday, April 8th for the Bootlegger's Ball, an event hosted by the South Grand Lake Chamber of Commerce.
This is a great evening and party celebrating the building of the Pensacola Dam and the many tales (some tall and some true!) of the Whiskey Point area - now known as Hinds Point - as shared through the Bendel Family, who purchased that land shortly after the completion of the dam.
The Bootlegger's Ball is set to a 1930's theme and all are encouraged to come in your finest prohibition era attire for a great night of fun, food, stories and more.
The evening includes a full jazz swing band and dancing; games of chance brought to you from Casino Night of Tulsa and even a jail house photo booth with props!
Plus a fantastic silent auction featuring Pensacola Dam site memorabilia and other great items, including week-long vacation stays in Florida and Mexico and a floating mat from Jay Rogers and
FloatingMats.com.
The party is open to the public and starts at 6 pm, so invite your friends to the lake for a fun weekend! Tickets are $25 at the door or $20 if purchased in advance through the Chamber.
This event has become one of the biggest fundraisers for the South Grand Lake Chamber, and it would be great to see an awesome turnout from our members supporting the great work that is done for the area by the Chamber of Commerce.
As an added bonus, with your paid admission to the Bootlegger's Ball, if you are not already a member of the Chamber of Commerce, you will be given a 1 year individual membership in the South Grand Lake Area Chamber of Commerce - a value of $75.
This gives you the chance to experience first hand the many benefits of joining the Chamber of Commerce and see for yourself everything that our local Chamber does for the entire Grand Lake area.
It's going to be a blast and we'll look forward to seeing you there!

From the Dock,
Well, Cedar Port is in full swing. Winter is over and it's soon to be summer. The boats are starting to come in from the boat show and I sure do have some happy family's. The water is now in the 50's and the weather has been in the high 70's. The season is off to a early start. The water is on at the marina, and it's time to get dewinterized so you'll be ready for a fun season. Boat sales have been amazing for this time of year. If you are in the market, now is the time to stop by Cedar Port and test drive one of our nice trades. Have a Grand week.
Jerry Cookson
The snow is gone and the sun is out. It's time to trade that old boat off for a NEW Surf Boat.
 |
|
 |
This is a like new 2014 Malibu 24MXZ. Often imitated but never duplicated. $89,995 |
Tip of the week:
Dewinterize your boat and get all the maintenance before the water warms up!!
|
|
Spring is here with all its warmth, rain and wind. Our condolences to all the folks in the New Port village and the surrounding area for storm damages they had. If your boat was damaged in the downburst storm of March 24, 2017 please give me a call and I will get our Service department to get you insurance repair service work orders. If you decide to take the insurance checks and not repair your boat but trade it in this is actually an opportunity for you to step up to the next boat that you've been wanting.
Thanks again to all of you who came out to our open house. Even with the rain it was a great success. It is always great to see our customers and meet our new ones.
Let's talk about Mercury Verado Outboards.
Verado outboards are creating a whole new set of standards for performance. No matter how you define it. Low noise and vibration? Check. Lower fuel consumption? Check. Supercharged power and torque? Check. The Mercury Verado is everything and then some.
The Verado driving experience, pairing power with refinement. Nothing compares to the quiet, effortless operation of Verado. SmartCraft® Digital Throttle & Shift (DTS) for ultra-smooth shifting and instantaneous throttle response. Electro-hydraulic, automotive-style power steering that provides precision handling. Joystick Piloting that puts you in command of your vessel like never before.
High durability, low maintenance the Verado is beefed up and better protected. Long bolt design, maintenance-free valve train, dual water inlets for consistent cooling and longer life. Power-loaded robustness and superior corrosion protection you only get from a Mercury
®
engine. It is made to handle bigger boats and bigger water.
Less vibration, more control, the Advanced Midsection (AMS) is a mid-engine cradle, featuring four progressive rate mounts that isolate the powerhead and tame the Verado six-cylinder's refined, naturally balanced inline power. This keeps vibration out of the boat and off the steering wheel. Performance - Supercharged. Temperature changes, humidity, and elevation aren't a problem with the Verado. A supercharged production outboard that turns harsh conditions into pure, all-season power. Superior torque and acceleration across your entire performance range. Hole shots to top end, all with less fuel. Offshore gearcase, the ultra-robust 5.44-inch-diameter offshore gearcase is designed and built to handle offshore seas and provide extra lift for longer, heavier center-consoles and walkarounds. It features larger, stronger gears and heavy-duty bearings and components that are five times stronger than those in a standard gearcase. Corrosion protection, an all-out attack. Mercury has always been on the forefront of corrosion protection. Better alloys, superior paints, deeper R&D capabilities, torturous testing in the toughest body of salt water in the world - our own test tank; Mercury engines have gone through it all, and then some. We would have it no other way. For all those reasons and more we at Arrowhead stand behind the Mercury engine. Joe Harwood offers all his Arrowhead customers who purchase Mercury a 5 year warranty! I'd love to take you on an on water demo if you haven't experienced the Mercury Verado so you can see the difference for yourself. Life is better in a boat, Rick Craven |

As you can see we have a full slate of varied activities for all ages and taste. Activities and events are the backbone of what we do. April is a good example of the total package we offer, which is greater than anyone else on Grand Lake. Beaver Lake has their own events, plus we want the Arkansas contingency to know they are Welcome to participate in Oklahoma events. The road also runs from Grand to Arkansas.
If you act fast, there is time to work in a few more seats to the Spring Wine Dinner at AYC this Saturday. However, you must act fast. Call or email
alicia.hampton@arrowheadok.com
or call 918-782-2628 (BOAT).
The Bootleggers Ball, next week, is open to any and all of Grand Lake. This is a fundraiser for the South Grand Lake Chamber and I would personally appreciate everyone coming out to support the event. The Chamber is offering a special one year trial Membership for attending the Ball. We are offering a $20 all inclusive buffet dinner that night. It will be well worth the price. All Grand Lakers owe the South Grand Lake Chamber their support. Please come and enjoy.
Easter Weekend is a full weekend of fun and events for everyone. EVERYONE, is invited to come and participate in the In-Water Boat Show and the Easter Egg hunts on Saturday, which includes a $5 lunch buffet. You can spend a fun afternoon with the entire family looking and riding in boats, let the kids join the Easter Egg hunt, have lunch for $5, and even see a wake surfing demonstration. Pretty hard to think of how to have a more enjoyable day at the lake. There will be more details about all the Easter Weekend Events next week.
As we are approaching this boating season and Easter, please keep in mind, our goal is to provide you and your families the best possible experiences that we can. We get to be a part of you and your family away from work. These are the BEST times and memories your family will ever have. I have had the joy and honor of being able to do that for many generations of clients. Let us help to make those memories the best this Easter Season and beyond. Joe
Important Reminders,
-CYC serves ala carte breakfast every Sunday morning from 9 a.m. to Noon.
-AYC beginning Easter Sunday April 17th will serve as the first Sunday Brunch of the season and will then serve Sunday Brunch every Sunday the rest of the season from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
-The Cherokee Arrow Trolley continues to run anytime either Club is open. If you wish to use the Trolley, please call the Club that you are wishing to go to this will insure the fastest service. Make it clear as to where you wish to be picked up from. We pick up at 3 locations; Arrowhead, Cherokee, and Arrowhead South. This marks the beginning of the third season for the Cherokee Arrow complimentary shuttle. Probably one of the best ideas we have ever come up with. If you haven't used to service I highly recommend it. From the Arrowhead South locations people from Spinnaker Point, all the way around to Port Carlos can be picked up at South and never get out on the main highway. Please be our guest. It's safe, convenient, and doesn't cost a penny. I do wish to thank everyone for their generosity in tipping the Trolley drivers. Joe
