Cornerstone Sunday
Sunday, November 10 is Cornerstone Sunday

By that date, we ask everyone in the parish to make a pledge to Christ Church for 2020. You may do that online through our website or by clicking below, by calling or emailing our Financial Administrator, Cindy Lyman, or by filling out a pledge card and leaving it in the basket at Church. Pledge income is the single biggest source of funds for our parish life together and this year the Vestry has asked that the increase our giving by 10% over last year's pledge. Our Four Cornerstones form the foundation of the practice of our faith: to Worship more than we don't; to Seek a deeper understanding of our faith; to Serve Christ in other people; and to Give as generously as God gives to us. Thank you for your continuing support for all we do in Christ's name together as Christ Church. You can pledge HERE.

An Evening with C.S. Lewis - Saturday, Nov. 2

C.S. Lewis, a Christian writer from the 1940's-60's, is a widely appreciated author on the subject of Christianity.  Though many of his books are over 70 years old, most are still in print.  Fifteen of us are studying his
Screwtape Letters Fridays at Holy Caffeine from 8:30-9:30AM in the Lea Room.

David Payne portrays Lewis and captures the essence of the man and his path from atheism to Christianity in a fascinating show spanning the adult years of his life and featuring his friendship with J.R.R. Tolkien.

A group of Christ Church parishioners is planning to attend the showing on Saturday, November 2 at 8PM at the Broadway Theatre downtown.  Come join us!!  Get your tickets on your own at broadwayinchicago.com and email christopher@christchurchwinnetka.org if you would like to get together for dinner as a group beforehand.

Our theme for the year is Making Difficult Decisions. This month we consider how we choose to spend our time and energy when there are so many demands on it. Jeremiah 31:33 will be our inspiration.

Christian Formation Summit Fri. Nov. 15, 6:00-8:30PM

Do you care deeply about passing on the faith to our children and youth? Then please join us for the Children's and Youth Formation Summit on Nov. 15! With the help of Ministry Architects, we will create a formation plan that spans birth to graduation from high school and includes what we want our young people to learn, feel and do. We are inviting all interested parishioners to share their priorities, values and experiences to inform our master plan for formation. You do not need to have a child currently involved in children's or youth ministries to participate. We want to hear from many voices and many perspectives!

We will meet in the Chapel at 470 Maple, Winnetka for dinner and discussion. Please RSVP to Melissa or Megan.
Thank you!

A Just Harvest - Nov. 12
We Need Cooks, Servers, & Shoppers

DID YOU KNOW that our Parish serves approximately 150-175 hungry patrons each month at A Just Harvest Community Kitchen in Rogers Park.  We'd love to have you join this ongoing ministry.

Questions? Contact Jenny Smith or Suzie Peregrine for more information and/or to volunteer.

Most volunteers leave the kitchen with the sense that they have personally gained more than they have given. Come see for yourself.
