This Sunday at Christ Church
|
Join our children & youth as they lead our service this Sunday!
From the communion bread to the flowers, from a children's sermon to the prayers of the people, our young people have prepared a thoughtful worship experience to share with all of us at 9:30. Join us afterward for a reception honoring our twelve newest confirmands as well as our many graduates, and the dedication of our acolytes.
We want to make sure that everyone who wishes to be involved in the service has a role. If your child would like to do something but does not yet have an "assignment", please contact
Melissa or
Leah.

Family Promise at Christ Church
We recently completed our second week of hosting families in the Family Promise program. This wonderful program provides safe and welcoming housing for families that are temporarily displaced, allowing them to
maintain their family units, continue in their schools, keep or search for employment and get back on their feet in a structured environment. Last October we hosted four families and another three in March. Scores of parishioners - young and not so young - took on the roles of dinner hosts, activity hosts, overnight hosts and a number of other key support roles to make these weeks enormously successful. Led by Elizabeth Parkinson, Robin Anstaett, Julie Flood, Suzie Peregrine, Nina Gray, Molly Hufton and Bob Spencer, our volunteers made great use of both our physical facilities and our warmth and generosity.
This program is meeting challenging needs with limited but faithful resources and succeeding, one family at a time. What a joy to be a part of it!
You can see some photos of our set up and some of the Family Promise guests at a housewarming party at the following LINK

Art Supply Drive
On May 14, Christ Church member Morgan Fisher will be hosting an art supply drive to benefit Family Promise, an agency we work with twice a year that provides temporary housing to homeless families. There is also a center in Evanston where the families stay during the day. This center is in desperate need of art supplies to keep the kids occupied. Remember to have your child bring up your supplies during the offertory at the 9:30 service on May 14.
