Summer Choir |
|
We know who you are, and don't think we haven't noticed: those of you that sing in the car and think no one sees you; you happy little gardeners out in the yard on a spring day singing with the birds; you secret singers that love to hear the sound of their your own voice in the shower! Never fear, the First Presbyterian Summer Choir comes to your rescue! This is the perfect opportunity to explore new realms of your inner AND outer voice. You know it is said that "those who sing, pray twice". If you haven't sung in a choir ever, or since college or high school, or maybe even recently as three years ago, you are welcome to join us. Summer Choir rehearses Sunday mornings at 8:30am. We review the music in preparation for the 9:30am worship service. Sing once this summer, three times, or many Sundays. The chance for you to do so all begins Sunday, May 29th, 8:30am in the choir room, second floor, Room 229.

Flint H2O: What's Happened? What's Next? |
|
On Sunday, June 5, following the morning service our Living Water Team invite all to the Chapel for a Town Hall Meeting focused on the water situation in Flint. Todd Lamb, chair of the Team will provide an overview about what has happened and where we now find ourselves. Dr. Larry Kage will present medical information on lead's impact on the human body. And guiding us into a healthier future, registered dietitian Anne Batchelor will share food and nutrition information that can help mitigate the negative effects of lead in our bodies. The session will close out with a time for Q&A. Of course you are invited!

A Word from Lisa Horne |
|
Greetings!
I would like to take this opportunity to say "THANK YOU" for the wonderful expressions of love, support and excitement as I serve with the staff of this awesome body of Christian believers.
I will be serving in the Community Ministry on Wednesdays reaching out to those in need of Michigan State Identification/Vital Records to access local and government services; referrals for basic needs such as food, clothing, personal care items; occasional bus passes and prescription assistance as funds are available.
I will also serve in the Gerholz Christian Counseling Center Monday and Tuesday afternoons and all day Thursdays providing counseling to those having difficulty managing the challenges that life can bring from time to time
and to serve as a bridge between the church and the resources of our community.
In addition, I am available to serve the congregation in the areas of health navigation, advanced care planning, accessing community resources, facilitating discussion for senior living, and other activities that are desired to support the needs of the congregation. I am blessed to be knowledgeable of many resources and want to be available to you! These confidential consults can be offered to you by contacting me at 810-234-8673 or e-mailing me at

.
Thank you again and I look forward to this journey! To God be the glory!!!

One Ringy-Dingy . . . |

Through the Spring and Summer months, be on the lookout for the
Summer Sunday Ringers
! What's this you might ask? Well, have you ever had an interest in learning to ring handbells and handchimes, or maybe not sure what those are? Can't read music? Well, how about a ground-up, easy approach to learning the fundamentals of music reading? The ability to read music is not a requirement!
We are providing an opportunity for you to learn about, and to ring handchimes and handbells. At the same time, we will be preparing very EASY and SIMPLE music items to include during our morning worship services throughout the summer.
The
Summer Sunday Ringers
will be open to all ages (yes, elementary and older!) and will meet on
Sundays, 11:00-11:45am
following coffee hour, on the third floor in the handbell room. It is not necessary to attend all of the classes - come to one or two to learn some basics, or if you want more of a challenge, ring with us most of the summer! The fun begins on
June 5th, 11:00-11:45am
, and continues through August 28. Got questions? Call or email our Director of Music and Fine Arts, Carl Angelo:

Prayers of the people
|
|
Please pray for:
The family and friends of Jeane Darnton deceased on May 22;
For those in the military, world and national leaders, the church, and those distressed by natural and human disasters.
Each week, the members of our Congregational Care Team are praying for member households as we are called to do. Holding these households up to God, we pray that God would surround the individual/family with His presence and peace and guide them by His Spirit in the direction for living out faithfully God's call in Christ Jesus. We are going through our membership alphabetically and postcards are sent each week to the households being held up in prayer the coming week. As we raise up each household to God, we pray that we might become more aware of our relationship and the help we are called to give one another as the body of Christ. This week's families are: Palmer Schumann; Carolyn Scott; Shirlene Scrima; Julie Sears; Jack and Pamela Seltzer; Kim Shaala; Nancy Sharai; Leslie Shaw; Ken and Carole Sheidler; Alma Shelley; Marjorie Shepherd; Charlie and Margie Sheridan; Lindsey Sheroski; Susan Sherwin.
