***Giving Sunday November 12***

Giving Sunday is November 12, 2023! What will you pledge to support the mission and ministry of Good Shepherd in 2024?

Time and time again in Scripture God’s work in the world is compared to a banquet—a feast—a celebration! And each one of us is invited. Good Shepherd has a table there, and we want you to join us! In these next few weeks we invite you to discern what your financial pledge will be to support our communal work in 2024. Exciting things are ahead and we welcome your participation! On November 12, 2023, we’ll bring our pledges to the altar as an offering of ourselves and a response to God’s invitation to join the heavenly feast.

Giving Campaign Sermon Series: Feasting at the Table of God

October 29: God’s Extending the Invitation to Feast at God’s Table

(Matthew 22:34-46: Love God and Love Neighbor)

God has called each of us not only to answer God’s invitation, but to extend that invitation to those around us. Feasting at God’s table has everything to do with feasting with our neighbor. Everyday Good Shepherd extends God’s invitation to those in the community around us. How will you partner with Good Shepherd in that work?

Music Notes for Sunday, October 29

"Immortal, Invisible, God only wise"

The city of Edinburgh, Scotland has produced some of Christianity’s greatest hymnists: George Matheson (O Love that will not let me go), Horatius Bonar (I heard the voice of Jesus say), Elizabeth Celphane (Beneath the Cross of Jesus), to name a few. Today’s processional hymn Immortal, Invisible, God only wise was written by Scottish hymnist Walter Smith. In 1874 he became pastor of the Free High Presbyterian Church in Edinburgh where he published a collection of hymns entitled Hymns of Christ and the Christian Life. It was here that Immortal, Invisible, God only wise was introduced to the world.

Music Notes for Sunday is a deeper look at the music that enhances the worship experience. Read all about this beloved hymn at Hymnary.org
