Men's Shelter Volunteers Still Providing Assistance

All volunteer activities at LMM have been suspended due to COVID-19, but legal clinic volunteers at the Men's Shelter at 2100 Lakeside have found ways to continue to generously provide assistance to residents electronically.
Our legal clinic volunteers, which include attorney Mike Drain, paralegal Renita King, Judge Bobette Ousley and attorney Fritz Neil, provide legal advice to our residents each week. This advice can range from anything related to traffic violations to landlord/tenant issues.
These volunteers all have legal backgrounds and are trained by lawyers who have been part of the program since it's inception in 2009.
Our legal clinic has been going strong for 11years and LMM's awesome volunteers show no signs of slowing down!
May is National Bike Month!

What better time to highlight the Men's Shelter's BIKES program than National Bike Month?
While it is currently on hold due to COVID-19, BIKES (Bikes In-Kind for Empowerment and Self-Sufficiency) is a volunteer-run program, started by LMM volunteer Pat Ginley back in 2008, with a focus on providing a way to for our residents to get to work, job interviews, appointments or to use for exercise. Shelter residents that partake in the program have access to a bike livery and repair shop and are able to gain skills in repairing bikes. This program is a great resource for our residents and can be life-changing, as it provides them with a mode of transportation that they otherwise may have not have had.
Donations of bikes, helmets and locks are greatly appreciated. Please reach out to Lydia Bailey for additional info on bike donations.
