After a lengthy delay, a $2.3 trillion Coronavirus relief and government funding bill was signed into law this week by President Donald Trump.
The COVID relief package will extend unemployment benefits for millions of people. The Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation program would have expired today without the extension. The new stimulus deal allows for an extension of 11 weeks. In addition, most Americans will receive checks for $600.
The package also includes a one month eviction moratorium extension, providing $25 billion in rental assistance for people who lost their income due to the pandemic. Eviction protection is now extended until January 31.
