Youth Homelessness Demonstration Program Announced

Over 500 young people engage with the homeless services system in Cuyahoga County each year. Thanks to a $3.9 million grant from HUD, the Cuyahoga County Office of Homeless Services is supporting new initiatives to address youth and young adult homelessness, and LMM is taking part.

The formal community announcement came this week with a celebration and speakers, such as Cuyahoga County Executive Chris Ronayne, and LMM’s VP of Housing & Shelter, Michael Sering. This work will be guided by Cuyahoga County’s coordinated community plan, REACHing for New Heights. Crafted alongside young adults and advocates from the REACH Board, as well as professionals in foster care, homelessness, education, and employment, this plan is a beacon toward ending youth homelessness.

Following approval of the plan in the summer of 2023, the REACH Youth Action board and other partners developed a Request for Proposals to identify partners to implement key projects: the Transitional Housing/ Rapid Rehousing, and the Navigation Program. The subrecipients have been chosen, with Lutheran Metropolitan Ministry taking the lead for each collaborative, cross-community project. A Place 4 Me and the REACH Youth Action Board are responsible for project compliance. There are six other subrecipients, as well.

Men's Shelter Hosts Super Provider Day

The Men's Shelter at 2100 Lakeside recently hosted its first-ever Super Provider Day, an event dedicated to showcasing and sharing information from local partners with shelter residents. With the array of resources and organizations the shelter partners with centered around education, case management, recovery, and more, Super Provider Day offered a unique opportunity for shelter residents to have face-to-face interactions with all of these resources under one roof.

We look forward to hosting more Super Provider Days in the future!

Support Workforce Development

LMM's Workforce Development team is in need of storage tubs for their resource room, which is home to various essential items for individuals using our programs including clothing, toiletries, and more. These storage tubs will allow for our resource room to remain organized, and ensure that our program participants are able to easily and efficiently access essential, everyday items.

Click the link below to donate new tubs, and feel free to donate used tubs (even without lids). All orders can be made shipped to or dropped off between 9:00AM and 5:00PM to Elizabeth Stiles (estiles@lutheranmetro.org) at 4515 Superior Ave. Cleveland, OH 44103.
