Congratulations to LMM's VP of Housing & Shelter, Michael Sering, for being honored as one of The Cleveland Leadership Center's 2020 Fresh Innovators! Michael spoke earlier today at Cleveland Leadership's virtual event, Spark: Grit to Great

Finding Voice: 10th Anniversary Poetry Anthology

LMM Poetry group

Finding Voice: 10th Anniversary Poetry Anthology is the culmination of 10 years of gathering at the LMM Men's Shelter at 2100 Lakeside to read, discuss, write and share poetry. Throughout the years, volunteers and individuals from LMM's Men's Shelter have been meeting weekly to create poetry. LMM's Annie Holden, who started Finding Voice back in 2010, has been archiving poems that the residents have written and agreed to share. The first printed edition of Finding Voice was published in 2012 with over 50 poems! With the editing, designing and printing help of students and faculty at Mt. Union University, the poetry group plans to publish a second edition of Finding Voice this year to celebrate 10 years in the making.

"There is magic in the room during the whole process and we found that going the extra mile to get poems printed and bound makes that magic tangible to everyone," says Holden.

To donate to help cover printing costs, contact LMM's Annie Holden at aholden@lutheranmetro.org.

A Summer with LMM: Final Farewell

Emel Terzioglu
LMM says farewell to John Carroll University interns Emel Terzioglu and Charlie Stehlik, who spent the summer working with our Advocacy and Communications teams to build awareness around the U.S. Census and November's election.

Check out this final blog from Emel, who, in addition to working on building Census and voting awareness, conducted a research project with help from LMM's Youth Services program. This research project focused on female youth in the child welfare system and analyzing the potential impacts of increased exposure to trauma.
