Inspired to Give, During the Season of Lent

Lent is the 40-day period leading up to Easter, in which some Christians prepare for the holiday by spending time in self-reflection and prayer, fasting and by giving alms.

Almsgiving is the practice of making contributions of time and treasure to people in need that echo the core values of love and charity. How fitting that this year, the Lenten Season kicks off with Ash Wednesday on February 14th – the same date as St. Valentine’s Day!

For those preparing for the start of Lent, we invite you to partner with Lutheran Metropolitan Ministry (LMM) in our mission to bring hope, compassion, and positive change to those in need.

LMM responds to the unique needs of people facing housing instability, food insecurity, reentry after incarceration, youth in crisis and adults in need of guardianship. Your consideration of donating your time or treasure can make a profound impact on their lives, by offering a chance for renewal and transformation.

Please consider LMM as a partner in your volunteer engagements and charitable giving this Lenten Season and throughout the year.

The Founder's Circle

The LMM Founder’s Circle is a distinguished group of individuals, organizations and faith-partners who were instrumental to the formation of LMM, as well as those who boldly carry the mission and vision forward today.

These trusted partners have made significant sacrifices of their time, talents or treasure to support the mission, vision and values, advocacy initiatives, and programs and services of LMM.

They are people who like our Founder, Rev. Richard Sering, are committed to social justice, racial reconciliation, living out their faith with action and serving with those in our community who are the most vulnerable.

Our Founder’s Circle members support innovative solutions to community concerns, believe in advocacy and public witness, and are always willing to speak up for those who have lost their voice.

During Founder’s Day 2024 on Feb. 6, new members of The Founder’s Circle will be announced during a pinning and naming ceremony.

Building Maintenance Training Program Coming to LMM

Lutheran Metropolitan Ministry (LMM) is excited to offer a vocational training program with a focus on light construction, building maintenance, home repair and remodeling as a high potential opportunity to change the trajectory of unemployed and underemployed citizens quality of life and upward mobility.

With an aging inventory of commercial and residential properties and anticipation of a vast amount of needed infrastructure improvements, skilled workers in the trades will be in extremely high demand and spur public-nonprofit-private partnerships.

Our Building Maintenance & Repair Program (BMR) will launch in early 2025, and will be located at a warehouse currently under LMM ownership. The building, located at 4516 Superior Avenue in Cleveland, has a wide-open floorplan. Reimagined as the LMM Workforce Training Center, the 6,200 sq. ft. renovation will result in the building being converted to a BMR education and training center, with a storefront cafe. For more information about the building project, click here

If you are interested in learning more about the program please contact Marcella Brown, VP of Development & Communications at mbrown@lutheranmetro.org or 216-658-7208.
