Director's Message
Can you believe we are already two weeks in! We have had a great start to the year. The beginning of a new school year can be exhausting, but it is so exciting. We hope you have eased back into your routines at home. We have been busy setting expectations, building community, practicing routines, and beginning our first units of study.
Additionally, some of our favorite extracurricular activities have started. Chorus has started for any interested 4th-8th grader, Cross Country has their first meet next week, and our Girls' Basketball teams have their first games today. We love when our students can get involved in activities that continue to develop the whole child outside of the school day too.
Lastly, please review the pick up procedures with anyone who comes to pick up your child(ren) after school:
  • PYP (the LBCS side) is one lane in and one lane out. The traffic will back up on Laird, so please do not block the road. Do not arrive before 2:45.
  • MYP & Siblings (the Franklin side) is "airport" style pick up, so please find a spot along the curb and stay there. Kids will be sent to you. If you want to move spots, pull back to the inner lane and drive until you find an open spot. Do not arrive before 2:50.
We know pick up can cause traffic delays and stressful situations at any school, and ours is no different. Please use caution and demonstrate patience to ensure the safety of all of our students and families.
Thank you for sharing your children with us. We love what we do, where we work, and who we get to work with. Have a wonderful THREE DAY weekend!

 PTC News
Our first  PTC meeting is Wednesday,   September 12 at 7:00 pm  at Beach Hut Deli in Granite Bay.
We hope to see you there!

Hello LBCS Parents,

Welcome back to LBCS and a new school year! It's our honor to serve as your PTC Co-Presidents. We look forward to working with you, the LBCS community, to provide our children with the opportunities to obtain an exceptional education and participate in amazing experiences. We'd like to take this opportunity to tell you about how PTC invests the money raised by our various fundraisers.

Pledge Drive-  We start off each year with our Pledge Drive, which is a $50 per child donation (but any amount is appreciated). This money is allocated to your individual child's classroom or homeroom. The teachers utilize this money to pay for basic classroom needs, as well as enhancements such as flex seating, specialized learning tools, or wish list items. This donation can be made any time during the school year but the sooner it's made, the easier it is for teachers to plan. Our goal is to raise $20,000 with this fundraiser.

Key Fundraisers

Jog-a-Thon-- October 4th

LBCS Auction-- May 2nd

These are two of the most significant fundraisers. Our target for these events is $25,000 and $75,000, respectively. This money is utilized to maintain the quality, currency, and availability of items such as curriculum, technology, and school necessities.

Additional Fundraisers

Ikeda's Pies-- November
Tamales-- December
Murder Mystery Date Night-- February
Poker Night-- Spring 2020

The money from these fundraisers offset the costs of busses utilized during field trips. Until last year, the Lunch Program Fundraiser covered these costs.

We'd like to thank you in advance as it is imperative to have the backing of our families (both financially and by chaperoning). Our field trips are such an important component in raising the caliber of our IB Program, taking it to the next level and assuring that our school excels beyond all others. We, the LBCS community, are so fortunate that we can offer our children experiences such as the Coloma Outdoor School, the Marin Headlands, two weeks of a Shakespeare immersion program, Catalina, and all of the other amazing day trips that they take during their time at LBCS.

We have the utmost confidence that, together, we will reach our goals and we look forward to serving the school.

Thank you,
Staci Thatcher & Tina DeRungs
