Passion of Our Lord

Saturday April 12 at 4:00 PM

Sunday April 13 at 9:00 AM

From the shouts of the palm-waving crowds as Jesus entered Jerusalem to the shouts of the crowds calling for his death, we remember the story of Jesus' passion, his arrest and crucifixion in a narrative from the gospel of Luke.

Join us Saturday, April 12 at 4:00 PM or Sunday, April 13 at 9:00 AM

Palm Sunday Celebration &

Easter Egg Hunt

Join us for a fun-filled Palm Sunday celebration this Sunday, April 13 at 10:15 AM! We'll engage in exciting games and creative crafts that help us learn about the significance of Palm Sunday in a fun and interactive way. We will follow that with our Annual Easter Egg Hunt on the church lawn. Hope to see you there!

Adult Ed - Front Matters Final Session with Pastor Nathan -

This Sunday April 13

If you’ve ever wondered why the hymn numbers start at 239, how to navigate the different indexes of the hymnal, or what all that stuff in the first half is for—well, there’s so much more to the hymnal than just the hymns! Join Pastor Nathan for “Front Matters,” an exploration of the resources for worship contained in the front matter of those cranberry-colored ELWs.

We’ll meet for the final session in this series at 10:20 AM in Mygatt’s this Sunday.

Check out our new High School Youth Room next door to the Middle School Youth Room!

Senior High Sunday School - Now on Sunday Mornings!

The world tells us that life after high school is when you will finally be "on your own," but God tells us that we are always created to share life together and to encourage one another as we follow Christ. High School youth and rising 8th graders are all welcome to join us each Sunday at 10:15 AM! This class will provide a space for you to explore your faith, engage in meaningful discussions, and build strong relationships with friends and mentors.

With Sympathy

We remember Jean Van Swol and her family on the death of her sister, Marilyn McGovern, on April 7.

Rest eternal grant her, O Lord; and let light perpetual shine upon her.

Grant Application

Endowment Fund Grant Request Period

Twice each year MPLC’s Mission Endowment Board considers requests for grants. The first deadline to submit requests is April 30.

The mission of MPLC’s Mission Endowment Fund is to provide a lasting source of financial support for God's mission through and beyond Mt. Pleasant Lutheran Church.

Not sure if your request fits the criteria? Here are some of the applications that have been funded in recent years:

  • Scholarships for MPLC members who are attending ELCA colleges
  • Purchase of new MPLC choir robes
  • A donation to help offset one individual’s long-time efforts to feed hungry adults
  • Racine Friendship Clubhouse to fund service projects for adults affected by mental illness
  • Hospitality Center to underwrite the cost of bus passes for Hospitality Center guests
  • Carthage College to help defray costs for a marginalized student to take part in a J-Term trip
  • Vicar Chip Lutz with money towards seminary tuition and books
  • Racine’s Emmaus Lutheran Church for security cameras
  • The freezer that is used for Open Table food donations
Volunteer Here

Open Table - This Sunday, April 13

Open Table is a free meal served in our Fellowship Hall each month in a restaurant-style format. This month, the meal will be on the SECOND Sunday to avoid overlapping with Easter on the third.

Volunteers and donors make this ministry happen, providing ingredients and cakes, setting up or cleaning up, waiting tables, or serving in the kitchen. To help make our next meal happen, click the link. New people are always welcome!

Worship Volunteers Needed for Easter Sunday

Can you help us celebrate Easter by volunteering as a reader, communion assistant, or usher? Sign up on the clipboard on the table behind the sanctuary pews this weekend to volunteer. Thank you!

Easter Vigil - Saturday April 19 - 5:00 PM

MPLC hosts an ecumenical Vigil of Easter service in partnership with Lutheran and Episcopal congregations from Kenosha and Racine. This ancient service is an extended time of worship: We gather around the fire outside, recall God's saving history throughout scripture, and move from death to life as we await the Resurrection of Our Lord.

Book Club - Sun. Apr. 27

The MPLC Book Club’s April selection is LOOKING FOR SALVATION AT THE DAIRY QUEEN by Susan Gregg Gilmore.

Join us at the Dairy Queen on Hwy 20 on Sunday, April 27th at 11:30 am.

April Food Pantry Needs

In April the pantry is asking for:

  • Mixed fruit
  • Spaghettios
