A "Few" Words From Fr. Robert
Save the Date
Our Parish will hold a Parish Leadership Summit on August 10th starting at 1 p.m. Following the meeting all the parish leaders will attend the 5:30 p.m. commissioning Mass where this year's parish leaders will be commissioned and prayed for by the whole parish. We decided to have this summit because we feel that it is important for all of our ministry leaders to be well informed about the state of our parish and current parish initiatives. There will be major reports on our beautiful school, our Outreach Center, our Capital Campaign and our current parish finances. There will also be two workshop sessions where we will brainstorm about increasing involvement and enthusiasm in our almost 60 parish ministries, and speak about an increased outreach to our military families and our youth. The summit will assist all of our ministry leaders with the everyday logistics of heading a ministry team at St. Anne. Finally, it is our hope that all of our parish leaders and their families and any member of the parish will take the opportunity to get to know each other at a reception which will follow the commissioning Mass. If you are on the Parish Council, the Finance Council or lead any of our Parish Ministries, please save the date and plan on attending.
Bishop's Annual Appeal
In the near future we will be sending out some letters regarding the Bishop's Annual Appeal. We still need $16,000 in contributions or pledges to reach our goal. The Diocese of Savannah needs our support. Many of the parishes in our Diocese are desperately poor and depend on the support of the bigger Church. The community service programs of the diocese, like Catholic Charities, are almost completely funded by the Bishop's Annual Appeal. Our parish has always made its goal for the Bishop's Annual Appeal and I know we will continue to do so. If you haven't yet given to the appeal, please click
to do so. Be sure to indicate that you are from St. Anne Church in Columbus, GA. Thanks in advance for your continued support of the universal Church.
It's Time for a Break
As noted last week and announced at all of our Masses, our Parish Office will be closing early (at 12:00 noon) on Fridays through July 26th. This will enable our very dedicated parish staff to enjoy a couple extra hours with their families. Please plan accordingly. The Parish Office will be closed on Friday, July 5th, as well, since July 4th falls on a Thursday.
Now You See Us Now You Don't
It is our practice that all three of your St. Anne friars be present on Sunday morning, greeting everyone before or after all Masses and visiting with our parishioners as they enjoy donuts in Visitation Hall. Frankly, it is one of our favorite times of the week. In July we will be assisting at other parishes so their priests can get a little vacation time and we will be less present at St. Anne. Rest assured we still care about you very much and will do our best to be as present on Sundays as we can.
Stopping by for a Prayer and a Blessing
Some of our military personnel are transitioning out to their next assignments. It's hard to see them go, but we know all about what you have to do when duty calls. That's how we ended up in Columbus. One of our families was so sad to leave that they came to our beautiful campus with their children and took pictures so they would always have a remembrance of their time at St. Anne. A few of our younger officers have stopped by at weekday Masses to pray with the parish one last time and ask for a blessing. See this weekend's bulletin for a picture of Lt. Bill Waters being prayed over by the parishioners at the 7:30 a.m. Mass. We wish them well and promise them that we will also do our best to welcome those who will follow. Godspeed.
