From Our Interim Pastor
We are grateful to the Pastor Nominating Committee (PNC) for the hard work of the last few months. Their first task was to compile all the information required for filling out the Mission Information Form (MIF) that outlines characteristics of our congregation and of the Pastor we’d like to call.

The committee’s efforts were rewarded last week, when Session approved submitting the approved MIF to Presbytery for their approval so our Senior Pastor position vacancy can be posted. After that, interested candidates will be able to submit their Personal Information Forms for consideration. The PNC will take a well-deserved couple of weeks off before the interviewing/selection process gets underway.

Winter Carnival Family Fun Night
On Friday January 31, 2020 from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. come join other families and friends in the Education Annex for a great night of family fun.

The Winter Carnival Family Fun Night activities include face painting, cake walk, crafts, carnival games and food (with a hot dog bar), music and contests.

Fight the winter blues by joining in the fun and games. Be sure to invite your neighbors and friends to join us. Never underestimate the power of inviting someone to church.

Souper Bowl of Caring This Sunday
This Sunday join us in helping fight hunger through the Souper Bowl of Caring by bringing a can of soup or canned good to church. You can place the can in your favorite team's bin that is in the Narthex. (Please watch expiration dates.)

Souper Bowl of Caring has become a powerful movement that is transforming the time around the Big Game into the nation's largest celebration of giving and serving. Be part of this movement that is sharing God's love with those in need.

All canned goods and money collected will be donated to St. Gregory's Pantry which is the local food bank that serves our community. Please bring a canned good or donate to one of the two soup pots the youth will be holding at the doors as you leave worship.

Whether a San Francisco 49ers Fan or a Kansas City Chief's fan, everyone can make a positive difference in the world.

Communion Brunch
Following the service, join us in the C.E. Annex for our monthly Communion Brunch with a Valentine theme. This month's brunch will be lovely with Carol Bonebrake's Strattas and Robin Cook preparing some much loved Scottish Candy. It will be well worth making the trip across the street to Wilton Hall.  A free will offering defrays expenses.

Confirmation Meeting February 9th
Confirmation Classes for youth 7th grade and older will begin in February. This year's course of study will consist of 12 class meetings between February and May. Confirmation Sunday is scheduled for May 31, 2020. The full class schedule will be determined when leaders, parents and interested youth get together on February 9 after worship. Our classes are a time to learn different aspects of our Christian faith while giving you a chance to ask questions (no question is off-limits), and have a good time in the process. Please call the church office 732-899-0587 if you plan on attending the Feb 9th meeting.
February Playlist for Sunday School
This month we want our children to know the great truth that Jesus loves them. When they understand how much Jesus loves them, they can see how important it is to share that love with others and point them to Jesus. We’ll look at key passages in the New Testament where Jesus’ teachings and actions illustrate how we are to love God, our neighbors, and even our enemies.

If you’d rather watch than read further 😉, please click our Preview Video for February!

We’ll concentrate on one “bottom line” idea each week:
  • Love others because Jesus loves you.
  • Love others with your time.
  • Love others because they matter to God.
  • Love God with everything you’ve got.

Our "Life App" this month is, of course, LOVE—Choosing to treat others the way you want to be treated.
If your child hasn't visited us yet at Sunday School, any Sunday is a good time to start! You can download the Sunday School Registration Form Online and bring it to church this Sunday. See you soon!

News From Point Beach Prep
I January, we began our Student of the Week Program, which will continue through June.

Each student will be given the opportunity to have a special week. During this time, parents and children will fill out a special poster together (given to them by his/her teachers) telling the class all about themselves. Each child will be able to take home Brown Bear (our stuffed classroom bear) and journal about his adventures. Finally, someone from each family may come in one day to school to do a special activity. Some examples from the past have been reading a favorite book, making a craft, teaching a specific lesson, doing yoga, planting seeds, and playing the guitar and singing songs. Our families use their imagination and have fun with it!

Last week Ruby's mom came in and taught the class some Spanish. She then used those Spanish words in a game of Simon Says! We enjoy each unique activity and the children love the experience of bringing someone special here!

Point Beach Prep has openings in our classes and ongoing registration. For more information, please call Devlin House at 732-701-9900.
