From Our Interim Pastor
As we prepare these announcements, there are no known cases of people affected by COVID-19 in Ocean County. That, of course, can and probably will change at any moment.

For the time being, our worship services will be held as planned. We will continue with holding back from physical contact and keeping a little more distance from each other in the pews.

As we consider possible helpful measures, this Sunday will be our last Coffee Hour until further notice. After this week, we will be discontinuing the Coffee Hour following worship and the Brunch after worship the first Sunday of April has been cancelled.

The Girl Scouts will be selling their highly anticipated cookies this Sunday. So, take advantage of this opportunity to stock up on a product that is sure to make the next few weeks a little more comforting and bearable.

I share with you the prayer for the third week of Lent:
Almighty God, you know that we have no power in ourselves to help ourselves: Keep us both outwardly in our bodies and inwardly in our souls, that we may be defended from all adversities which may happen to the body, and from all evil thoughts which may assault and hurt the soul; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Peace!
Pastor Osy
Girl Scout Coffee Hour
Happy Birthday to the Girl Scouts. March 12, commemorates the day in 1912 when Juliette Gordon Low officially registered the organization's first 18 girl members in Savannah, Georgia.

There are two girl scout troops that meet here in the Church: Brownie Troop 360 and Junior Troop 443. Coffee Hour this Sunday is sponsored by these Troops.

Also in addition at Coffee Hour there will be Girl Scout Cookies for Sale. They are $4 and $5.50 a box. You are welcome to purchase cookies as a donation to IHN and St. Gregory's Food Pantry since everyone loves girl scout cookies. Stop on in to the Chittick Lounge for this special celebration.

If you would like to know more about Girl Scouts please speak with Beth McGuire who will be with her troops during Coffee Hour.

A Service of Witness to the Resurrection
Giving thanks to God for the life of Constance "Connie" Curtis will take place on Saturday, April 4, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Point Pleasant Presbyterian Church. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made in her honor to Point Pleasant Presbyterian Church.

One Great Hour of Sharing
March 1 - April 5, 2020
The three programs supported by One Great Hour of Sharing - Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, the Presbyterian Hunger Program, and Self-Development of People - all work in different ways to serve individuals and communities in need. From initial disaster response to ongoing community development, their work fits together to provide people with safety, sustenance, and hope.

Children have received their offering boxes and the entire congregation is encouraged to start planning for the special offering to be received on Palm/Passion Sunday.

Get Ready for the Clothing Drive
Mark your calendar for the PW Clothing Drive coming up April 18 from 8:00 -12:00 noon.

Drop-off will once again take place on the side lawn of the church on April 18th.

Gently used clothing (no children's toys nor pots & pans) will be collected. Also being colleced are shoes, belts, handbags, briefcases, bedding, draperies, pillows, towels, stuffed animals and bicycles. Shoes should be wrapped in pairs in separate bag from clothes. None of the clothing will be shredded.

Now Taking Registration For the PW Retreat
Continued COVID-19 Precautions
Keeping vigilant especially in care and concern for our more susceptible members and those with weakened immune systems or long-term conditions:

  • We are continuing our break from hugging, kissing and shaking hands.

  • We continue our Lenten discipline of avoiding physical contact during the passing of the peace. We will say the words, but limit the appropriate gesture to a wave, a bow or the peace sign.

  • Latex gloves and paper goods will be used as much as possible for Coffee Hour.

  • Surfaces like tables, light switches, doorknobs, pews, and even the offering plates continue to be disinfected.

  • Handsanitizer and tissues are available when you first come in and from the ushers. Disinfectant soap is used in all our bathrooms.

  • We ask that anyone who is sick (runny nose, coughing, sneezing, fever, struggling for breath) please stay home and call a physician.

During these changing times, please routinely check your email, our website and facebook page for any important announcements. You do not have to have a facebook account to view our public page.

This week we introduced the letter U and had fun drawing and writing "under" the tables in our classroom. We made umbrellas, unicorns, and an under the sea craft. We sang The Unicorn Song, Ukulele songs, Letter U song and more. We read Up and Down, Under the City (book on tape), Uni the Unicorn,Flowers for Mami Unicorn and Umma Umgka's Unusual Umbrella. Our sight word and American Sign Language word was "up". During Show and tell we saw lots of unicorns, umbrellas, ukuleles, and even ultrasounds!

For Student of the Week, we had 2 parents who are physical therapists come in with equipment to do agility drills and obstacle courses. It was perfect for a rainy Friday!

Last week we enjoyed Cattus Island Educators, who brought in turtles and a snake to our classrooms and taught us so many new things!
