From Our Interim Pastor
One of the unexpected results of this pandemic has been the way our family, like many others, found a way to connect through different platforms. Cousins I had not seen in over 5 decades suddenly reappeared for a family meeting on zoom. We had a lot of catching up to do as relationships were re-established and family links revived.

These days, I am grateful for the connectional system that allowed us to find each other and work together for a season. The Presbyterian Church (USA) is a large family. We count with brothers and sisters in every corner of the country; cousins and step-siblings, too, I suppose. Our lives have been enriched in many ways as we developed a relationship and created lasting ties through the experiences we shared.

There was no way to know two years ago what a wonderful congregation this is!

From the start, we witnessed the warmth and sincerity of your welcome, repairing and painting the manse, allowing me to join the choirs, offering the facilities for the homeless as well as visiting groups, and even giving Vixen her own water hose for when returning from the beach (who would have guessed that she really does not like the water!).

Your dedication to the church was obvious in the ways you responded to the rigors of a long discernment process, the steady financial support, the acceptance of a new way to participate in worship.

Your love of God and faithfulness to Jesus Christ came through in the vitality of your worship, the generous offering of your talents, musical as well as visual (the North Hall Gallery is a brilliant undertaking!), the intensity of your fellowship events (we ate well!), the practical response to needs, both near and far.

I have enjoyed working with your outstanding staff, your devoted session and board of deacons, and the many committees, groups, teams, guilds, circles, task forces, choirs and ensembles, etc. Some of these organizations will necessarily undergo some changes in the next few months, but the relationships built, and the work accomplished through them, will continue to witness to the Spirit’s presence among you.

I feel you are very ready to receive the Pastor that God has prepared to lead you into the promising future ahead. Keep on doing what you do well.

Thank you for letting Juli and me be part of your family and your exciting journey.

Peace!

Pastor Osy

Farewell Reception This Sunday
Our service this Sunday includes a Farewell and Dismissal of Pastor Osy to Palisades Presbytery. Starting at 11:30 a.m. Osy and Juli will be available for goodbyes under the white tent on Bay and Atlantic Avenues, next to the playground.

We ask that you be considerate of the amount of people that would like to say good bye and that you do not linger long so that we can all maintain social distancing. In addition, in order to not have many people at any one time, we ask that those who will not be attending in-person worship not arrive until after 12 noon. The reception will end by 1:00 p.m.

Please no hugs, kisses or handshakes. Masks are required for this outdoor event.

Enjoy this short video farewell of some of the highlights over the past two years.

A reminder that in response to the worldwide pandemic, Session ordered our buildings to remain closed and for the staff to work remotely as much as possible.

Office hours remain 9 to 12 and 1 to 4 Monday-Friday. Donna Ferry, our Financial Secretary, remains available Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays to answer any of your financial questions through phone or email. Please make sure you call the office before you come.

There is limited cleaning service available in our buildings. If you do come over to any of our buildings please keep in mind that the Annex is not currently being cleaned and trash is not being removed. The church building also has limited access and we ask that you do not go beyond the boundaries set should you require to visit the church.

As a reminder, masks are required when entering any of the buildings.

Sunday Volunteer Needed
The technical team continues to make improvements each week so that video and sound are transmitted from the sanctuary into your homes every Sunday morning. We are in need of more volunteers to ensure that several people know how this is all done and we don’t depend on just a few. Please consider how you can assist from monitoring the Zoom meeting, to coordinating sound, to guiding the camera, etc.

Contact Peter Farwell (908-675-7287 or pfarwell@aol.com) with your questions and your area of interest.

Care Corner
Love. It’s all about love. Feeling down about the state of the world? Send the world some love. COVID quarantine and isolation got you down? Connect with loved ones in whatever way feels right to you. Find some things to be grateful for every day. Smell the roses, smell the salt air and thank God for it. Love and gratitude are what will get us through this mess. Love really is the only answer.

As we say goodbye to Pastor Osy let’s send him off with so much love and gratitude. What a two years we have had! He has been there for all of us with kindness, support and encouragement. It would be easy to sit in sadness over his departure but let’s find gratitude for the time he was with us. He and Juli brought much love to our community. Let’s send them to their new calling with just as much love.

This may sound a bit sappy but honestly this is what Jesus would tell us. Look for the good and we will find it. Look for the bad and we will find it. Which sounds better? The world needs more love right now. Let’s give her what she needs. So, farewell Pastor Osy and Juli! All the best to you as you start your next calling. We will miss you and we are so grateful for you and your time with us. We will not forget you!

Confirmation Rehearsal This Week

This Sunday we welcome Jordan Muraglia and Sarah Schrader into membership by Profession of Faith. Confirmation Class, although different this year, still produced a seed of the gospel that has taken root in their lives. Through their faith may God fulfill his loving purpose for them both.
