Community Food Garden Planning Meeting
Tuesday, February 11 | 7:00 p.m.
All garden plot holders are invited to attend the Community Food Garden Meeting as we review the last growing season and get ready for the next.
We’ll gather at 6:00 p.m. for a New Orleans-style supper of Jambalaya and Corn Bread—and don’t forget the King Cake. Like your Cajun food with wine or beer? Bring your own to share. Hosted by Alixe Small.

At 7:00 p.m., we will move to the sanctuary for a quieter Prayer Service with the Imposition of Ashes in our First Service of Ash Wednesday.
Come when you can and come as you are to receive the imposition of ashes in the sanctuary at St. James the Less. The Rev. Lisa Senuta will greet each who enters, and guide you through a brief liturgy to begin a Holy Lent with the imposition of ashes.
Leap into the "Way of Love"
Saturday, February 29 | 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Techny Towers
You may recall the famous sermon Presiding Bishop Curry gave at the Royal Wedding. In it he spoke about love in a memorable way you might recall he said, “We must discover the power of love, the redemptive power of love. And when we do that, we will make this old world a new world. Love is the only way.”

The Way of Love is a ‘rule of life’ developed by the presiding bishops staff to support spiritual growth toward the transformative love he proclaimed.

What to expect:
The keynote speaker from the office of the Presiding Bishop Chris Sikkema. He was one of the original architects of the Way of Love program. He will
explain the history and teach us more about the seven principles of the Way of Love: Turn, learn, pray, worship, bless, go, and rest.

This event is particularly special because it invites the clergy and parishioners of the Evanston Deanery to come together for a pre-Lenten spiritual program.
Cost $45.00
A Just Harvest
Tuesday, March 3 | 3:45 p.m.
Meteorological spring is on it's way, yet the snow and cold continue as does the need. Please sign up NOW for our March A Just Harvest. We need servers as well as people to donate food.
Women's Retreat
Saturday, March 14 | 8:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
St. Andrews, Downers Grove
Episcopal Church Women invite all the women of the diocese to a one day Lenten Retreat facilitated by the Rev. Lisa Senuta.

Whole Self, Whole Heart
Our lives are divided into many parts. We feel the push and pull of all we ask of ourselves and others expect of us. We fail ourselves and others too often. When we confess, “I have not loved you with my whole heart” what is it that we are saying?

Bren é Brown an Episcopalian and research professor of Social Work and author of many New York Times bestselling books offers an answer to the question of how to live with a whole heart. During a day long retreat, The Rev Lisa Senuta will integrate Bren é’s work with contemplative practices, large group learning, personal reflection and small group conversation to guide you toward the transformative compassion of God.

The cost of the retreat is $30 and includes a continental breakfast and a boxed lunch.
Job Postings Now Live:
Do you Know a Good Candidate?
St. James the Less has recently posted opening for two lay positions in our parish. Can you help us find the right people? If you know someone who, please pass the information along and encourage them to apply.

Parish Outreach Coordinator -- Part Time

In a vibrant parish with a vision to serve and invite neighbors into creating a healthier more loving society we need organizational support. Assisting the Rector and joining a strong part time staff, the Program Coordinator will excel at event planning and community organization. Understanding that spiritual formation is the goal of all parish programming, this new position will be highly collaborative with parishioners to coordinate existing programming and establish new programming in the areas of Outreach and Community Events.

Inquiries regarding necessary qualifications, further information about current programs, and list of responsibilities contact  the Rev. Lisa Senuta .

Director of Children and Youth Formation -- Part Time

In a suburban, vibrant, pastoral size parish we seek an experienced, creative, and organized individual with a passion for Christian Formation in young people. This individual would join the Rector and volunteers in organizing and implementing programs for a variety of ages to learn the stories of Christ’s love and form spiritual practices that support faith development. Understanding of liturgical year, sacraments, valuing the significance for outreach as formation, and a desire to form community of love and acceptance would support this individual as they bring new ideas and also sustain continuity in programs. Working closely with the Rector this individual would join a strong part time staff together enjoying the dynamic work of parish ministry.

For information regarding needed qualifications and a list responsibilities inquire to  the Rev. Lisa Senuta.

For those who have died:
O God of grace and glory, we pray to you for those we love, but see no longer. Grant them your peace; let light perpetual shine upon them; and, in your loving wisdom and almighty power, work in them the good purpose of your perfect will.

Jay Nichols
We thank you for giving them to us to know and to love as companions on our earthly pilgrimage. In your boundless compassion, console us who mourn. Give us faith to see in death the gate of eternal life, so that in quiet confidence we may continue our course on earth, until, by the call, we are reunited with those who have gone before; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
