Fair Trade Products to Provide
Mission Scholarship Funds
Our annual Youth Missions fundraiser will offer fair trade, coffees chocolates and teas farmed by small scale farms, through a company called Equal
Exchange. Maureen Burke is the chairperson for the fundraiser.
This year, we will provide scholarships to students who seek to do mission or service work with qualified organizations. Our parish can continue to support our youth in mission endeavors through these scholarships, encouraging them to live out the gospel mandate to serve especially those who are in physical need. Students interested in applying for a scholarship should speak with kClare or Rev. Lisa.
Annual Coat Drive Begins November 1
We are collecting gently used coats in the bin at church or if you prefer, drop them at Schultz and Odhner's in Wilmette. We will clean and distribute them as in years past to those in need.
Calling All Christmas Elves!
St. James the Less is participating in the ReVive Center for Housing and Healing Christmas Basket program again this year. We have 6 seniors and 19 small families (a total of 50 people) for our busy Christmas Elves.

The Christmas Basket Sign-up will be in the Parish Hall after the 10:00 am service on Sunday, October 27th. Simply choose a ReVive senior or family and then write your name, email, and phone number on the line next to their basket code. Then Christmas Elves are to:

  • Spend $30-$40 per person on gift(s) and $15 per person for a Jewel gift card for a Christmas meal.
  • Wrap each gift and clearly list the recipient’s name on the wrapping paper.
  • Box up the gift(s) and Jewel gift card and label each box with the basket code number.
  • Bring your sealed box(es) to the Parish Hall before Saturday, December 7th.

Contact Susie White or Betsy Tracy if you have questions.

Pledging Supports Our Parish Budget
Our annual operating budget is designed to fully fund our clergy and support personnel, our beautiful facilities, and the programs which enrich our parish life.

As of October 1, we have received $333,300 in pledges from 80 parishioners to support the annual budget. At this point, we are at 90% of our goal with 60 days remaining in the 2019 pledge campaign. We hope to close any budget gap with additional pledges or with supplemental gifts by December 1. If you have already pledged, we thank you for your support. If you have not yet pledged or given to our 2019 annual budget, please consider taking action in the next few weeks.

Pledging and giving are made easier with our on-line link which appears as "Giving" on our parish website. In the event you would like to make a gift of stock or from an IRA account, please contact our bookkeeper, Bob Rizzo, at

Thank you for your continued support of St James the Less.

For those who have died:
O God of grace and glory, we pray to you for those we love, but see no longer. Grant them your peace; let light perpetual shine upon them; and, in your loving wisdom and almighty power, work in them the good purpose of your perfect will.
Alberta Daniels (who died recently)
The Right Reverend James Winchester Montgomery
We thank you for giving them to us to know and to love as companions on our earthly pilgrimage. In your boundless compassion, console us who mourn. Give us faith to see in death the gate of eternal life, so that in quiet confidence we may continue our course on earth, until, by the call, we are reunited with those who have gone before; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Prayers may be added to this list by completing the Prayer Request Card, which can be found in the pews and Parish Hall, or by emailing Sue Babbs at
