THIS SATURDAY

9:30am

A one-hour, peaceful chanted service, mostly in Hebrew, with a focus on the "greatest hits" of Shabbat Shacharit services, a great way to get to know the service and start your day.

10:30am

Torah study with bagels/donuts and coffee will begin at 10:30am and go until Noonish.  Our Torah  Study is a vibrant exchange of ideas about the we ekly Torah portion, bringing both traditional commentary and recent scholarship to bear on the text.  It is a lively salon style, participatory Torah study where all are welcome, and no background or Hebrew is needed.

PERFORM A CHRISTMAS MITZVOT:  DRIVERS NEEDED!
For years, Temple Sinai congregants have delivered food on Christmas Day to those unable to get out.  We are doing it again this year, and have a need for more delivery people than in the past, so we need your help.

Jeff Solomon is the driver coordinator this year.  If you have questions or want to sign up as a driver, please send your name, address, and phone number (cell preferred) to Jeff at  mealsonwheels-xmas@templesinai.org .  Thank you!
Teacher Spotlight
Kitah Delet/Hey
Grade 4-5 Teacher, Adam Karp
אדם חיים

Adam grew up in Newton, MA, the youngest of three brothers. He's a busy guy, not only teaching here at Temple Sinai but also at OZ and Chabad, and sometimes attends services at Ruach HaMaqom (he's got all his bases covered!).

This is not surprising considering his vast knowledge of Judaism. This year in Grade 4-5 he is concentrating on teaching all about Shabbat. Says he, "It's the best and most important holiday and you can learn tons about Jewish history, philosophy and values just from zooming in on this anomaly. Shabbat is possibly the Jewish people's greatest gift to humankind. What could be better than inventing the weekend?" In fact, one of the more unusual Shabbat customs his family practices is throwing the Challah across the Shabbat table. This is an old Dutch custom and it represents the idea of receiving the bread directly from above.

One of Adam's favorite Jewish memories comes from his time spent in Israel: "I had a friend who was learning in a Yeshiva in Israel. He had the best view from the roof of his school that overlooked the Western Wall and the Dome of the Rock. We used to eat dinner there on free nights just taking in the majesty of it all."

Among Adam's interests are Climbing, Biking, Good movies, Good Coffee, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Cinnamon Rolls. When I asked Adam what he'd like people to know about him, he replied,
"That I want to know more about you!" So please, when you're here, get to know this engaging young man and let him know all about you!
