Family Promise
Family Promise Rotation

As you are aware, our normal rotation model of sheltering families has changed due to COVID-19. We are currently sheltering several families in-place, outside of the congregational setting, and we anticipate this will continue for the foreseeable future.
We ask that you provide hospitality in two ways:

First we ask that, as you are able, provide cash to F.P.L. to purchase grocery cards or groceries, as appropriate to specific needs, to be distributed to the families to supplement their grocery budgets and SNAP benefits. A range of $200 - $300 in total per hosting rotation week (not per family) would be sufficient to help cover this expense of food each week.

Second, bless the families even more with a welcoming treat (for example, balloons, Eileen's cookies, ice cream, a special meal, or whatever is a special way for your congregation to bless each family in shelter) and provide each family a personal card letting them know you're thinking of them and praying for them during their stay. We will place the purchased grocery cards in the envelope with your card.

St Margaret's has created an online signup for the rotation week of Jan. 31 to Feb. 7. Donations should be delivered to St. Margaret's at 5700 W 6th St., Lawrence, KS 66049.

Budget Review Q&A Tonight

You can review the 2021 budget and talk with Fr. Rob and Senior Warden Steve King at 7 p.m. tonight, Thursday, Jan. 21.

This is an opportunity to understand how the parish handles its resources – particularly important during the pandemic and related pressure on everyone's finances.

Annual Meeting
and Vestry Voting

The Annual Meeting will take place online at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 24. The Annual Meeting is an important time for us to celebrate what God has been doing in our church family. In addition to electing new members of the Vestry, delegates to the Diocesan Convention, and members of the Endowment Board, we will review the Mission Plan for the coming year.

Those running for Vestry at this time are April Dwyer, Andrew Hoyt, Susan Ralston, Eric Ryan, Cheryl Wagner, and Garth Burns.

Diocesan Delegate we have Garth Burns, Debbie Pitts, and Linda McCoy.

Endowment Board there is Melissa Padgett.

Meeting online means we'll need some unusual procedures for voting.

Parishioners with an email address on file will receive a link to the ballot for the Annual Meeting the morning of Jan. 24, and they will have until 2 p.m. to go online and fill out the ballot.

The vote tallies will be announced via robocall later that afternoon.

You do not need to have the Zoom app on your phone or computer. You can access the meeting through your web browser by clicking on the link.

The Annual Report will also be available electronically. The link to the report will be on the church website (http://trinitylawrence.org).
You can call the church office to request a paper copy of the report to be mailed to you, or you may pick one up at the church office.

Total CYTD Income:
Budgeted: $391,691.63
Actual: $350,988.58
Difference: -$40,703.05
Total CYTD Expenses:
Budgeted: $391,694.61
Actual: $378,651.46
Difference: +$13,043.15
Trinity’s revenues are currently under budget, but like other small businesses, Trinity was granted a PPP Loan of $41,400. Our plan is to keep it as a reserve and only use it if necessary – otherwise, keep it in the account and have it forgiven, per the PPP guidelines. Everyone’s pledges this year are extremely important and helpful to Trinity’s cash flow. Thank you for your financial support of Trinity Episcopal Church and our ministries.

TEST Tidbits:
A New Administration,
a New Hope for Addressing Climate Change

There are at least three signs that the Biden/Harris Administration will be addressing the threats of our warming planet. Because they believe in the science behind our changing climate and take seriously the threats to the sustainability of the “earth systems” that protect humankind, they promise to quickly rejoin the Paris Climate Accord.

A positive step in doing our part in supporting the new administration is to listen to, digest and act upon the message of the presiding bishop of the Episcopal Church entitled, “Ask Who Shall We Be?” In this message Presiding Bishop Michael Curry challenges us to do the work to become part of the Beloved Community. Please listen to this message – it is very inspiring. https://episcopalchurch.org/posts/publicaffairs/presiding-bishop-currys-word-church-who-shall-we-be

For more ideas about how to solve issues of climate change, here is a link to the full TEST article.

EARTH STEWARD ACTION:  Celebrate the promise of a new administration and the hope for addressing climate change for a time – then listen to and follow Presiding Bishop Curry’s suggestions.
