Celebrate Black History Month: Patricia Bath
Join the CMA as we celebrate black physicians throughout history.

This week we're highlighting Patricia Bath, who was an ophthalmologist and inventor of the Laserphaco Probe used in cataract surgery which resulted in her becoming the first black woman physician to receive a medical patent.

Bath was also the creator of the discipline known as community ophthalmology, which was grounded in her belief that “eyesight is a basic human right”.

COTS - Celebrate Vaccination
Take a moment to watch this great video from the Central Ohio Trauma System celebrating COVID-19 vaccines with the healthcare heroes of Central, Southeastern, and Southeast Central Ohio.
COTS - Mental Health Resources
It has been a taxing year, especially for the mental health of our healthcare workers.

The Central Ohio Trauma System was asked by their 36 county healthcare partners to create a one-stop-shop for mental health and wellness resources for their healthcare members and associates.

Take a look and feel free to share it with those who might need it.
Policy and Politics Update:
February 12, 2021
The CMA's Public Policy Consultant, Malcolm Porter, is back this week with another awesome update on Ohio's 134th General Assembly.

This time he briefly covers the Governor's proposed budget. This matters to physicians because Medicaid is the single biggest budget item and it's currently unknown how the pandemic will impact caseloads and federal reimbursements.
