Telehealth Extended to March 31,2022

The Ohio Legislature, State Medical Board, physician organizations, and numerous healthcare stakeholder groups continue to work on new laws for the governance of telehealth in Ohio. House Bill 122 is the legislation on this topic that is going through the General Assembly. The bill has passed the House and is now in committee in the Senate, where hearings and amendment discussions continue.

While this legislation is still under consideration, the current telehealth authorization was set to expire on December 31, 2021. To give more time for work on the legislation and provide continuity for physicians, this week the State Medical Board voted to continue current telehealth practices until March 31 of 2022 by extending their existing moratorium on enforcing in-person visit requirements. Read more here.

More on this issue in the near future, as hopefully HB 122 is finalized and passed into law.

Dr. Jonathan Corbett

  1. Why did you become a doctor? When I was in 7th grade I had arthroscopic surgery on my elbow. My surgeon gave me pictures from the surgery and I thought it was the coolest thing in the world. That got me interested in medicine and I thought becoming a doctor would be a great way to use my love of science to help people. As I got older I never found anything else that I could see myself doing.
  2. What's the best part of being a doctor? The best part of being a doctor is the appreciation from patients when you’ve really been able to improve their lives.
  3. Favorite Columbus restaurant? My favorite restaurant in Columbus is Marcella’s.
  4. Favorite thing to do away from work? Away from work, I love to spend time with my wife, family, and friends. I’m a fan of the Buckeyes and love to go to games in the Shoe. I also spend a lot of time visiting my family and friends in Cincinnati.
