Update from Dr. Falcone with Dr. Andy Thomas & Dr. James Borchers
Last Friday Dr. Falcone hopped on a Zoom call with Dr. Andrew Thomas, CCO of The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, and Dr. James Borchers, the Ohio State Department of Athletics Head Team Physician and Director Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship.

They discussed how The Ohio State University developed a safe way to have a football season this year and how it impacts the local community.
Overflowing Cups: Exploring Wine and Supporting Women - Women in Medicine Event - Tuesday October 13
The CMA’s Women in Medicine Committee is excited to host a virtual wine tasting developed specifically for local women in medicine. The Refectory Restaurant expert Sommelier, Chris Dillman, will lead attendees through “Wines Off the Beaten Path”. The tasting package includes 4 wines and a petite cheese plate.

Also joining the event, Kathy Jackson of the organization called I Support the Girls”. Kathy works tirelessly to collect bras (new and gently used), toiletries, and donations to give to local women in homeless shelters and in schools. Space is limited so RSVP today!

Recently the OSMA released their list of endorsed Ohio candidates for the upcoming 2020 election. The CMA's PAC was involved in the recommendation process for the legislators in Central Ohio.

Over the next few weeks we will be providing quick 1 minute video overviews of each of the endorsed Central Ohio candidates so you can be more informed when it comes time to vote.

CMA Endorses Issue 24 - Franklin County ADAMH Levy
Physicians have first-hand knowledge of the mental health and addiction challenges that face our patients in this community.  The Franklin County Alcohol Drug and Mental Health (ADAMH) System provides vital public mental health and recovery services needed in our county. 
 
The ADAMH system is largely funded by a local property tax, which is up for vote in the November 3rd election.
 
The Columbus Medical Association Board of Directors has voted to endorse this levy. Attached is the Board's letter of support, and an additional levy information sheet from the ADAMH campaign. 
Practice Manager Luncheon: 2020 Legal Updates for Health Care Businesses - October 8
Please join us as we generally discuss several regulatory health care laws, such as the Stark Law, the Anti-Kickback Statute, and HIPAA, with a focus on how those laws have changed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and whether practitioners, practice managers, and other health care stakeholders should expect long-term changes in these areas of the law. We will also cover the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) and related Ohio requirements for health care employers during these challenging times.

On-line registration is available at the Ohio Secretary of State's Office: olvr.ohiosos.gov/

To register online you will need to provide the following:
  • Ohio driver’s license or Ohio identification card number
  •  Name
  • Date of Birth
  • Address
  • Last four digits of your Social Security number
Absentee Voting
  • Requests for absentee ballot must be sent to the Franklin County Board of Elections. For the absentee request form.
  • Absentee ballots requests that have been received by the Board of Elections will begin to be mailed out on October 6
  • Track the status of your absentee ballot at franklincountyvotes.com
  • Completed ballots can be mailed back to or dropped off at the Franklin County Board of Elections, including a 24/7 locked drop box. For more information.

Early In-Person at the Board of Elections (1700 Morse Road)
  • In-person voting can be done at the Board of Elections during selected days and hours, beginning on October 6. For dates and time.

Election Day at Local Precinct
Because of the complications related to COVID-19, it is more challenging than ever for the Board of Elections to recruit the needed workers to staff local voting locations. Franklin County needs 5,500 people to work on Election Day. For more information:
