CMA Leading Change Through Public Policy: April 7th Meeting Overview

IMG_1410.jpg

Yesterday, the CMA's Public Policy Committee met to review a number of legislative items that could potentially impact physicians.

Among the bill discussed were HB 378 (regarding Mifepristone reversal), HB 492 (which would require school athletic coaches to complete mental health training), and SB 296 (which would legalize the use of narcotic testing products and deregulate Naloxone).

Culinary Medicine: Gardening for Spring Recipe

Screen Shot 2022-04-07 at 3.28.42 PM.png

When the soil begins to warm in the next few weeks, it will be time to put in cool weather crops like seedlings/transplants of broccoli, cabbage, and kohlrabi. Once the soil temperatures reach 50 degrees, it will be time to directly sow beets, radishes, and peas. I’ve linked a recipe for a delicious spring salad that I have tried that is quite crisp and fresh. Some people have added radicchio or endive for more flavor. This is an easy recipe to experiment with by adding your own choices. I hope everyone is trying the local crops as they appear because the closer your food is produced to your household, the greater the global energy savings on shipping.

I'm looking forward to more Culinary Medicine in the coming months. Happy gardening and cooking! Please share any of your favorite recipes by sending them to Lynn Manoogian at [email protected]
