Physicians Leadership Academy Graduation - 2021

The Physicians Leadership Academy (PLA) welcomes 20 new graduates of the PLA to our growing PLA Alumni family. And what a year it was. This was our largest class thus far and came amid the strangest year that I can ever remember. Like most everything, the PLA had to adapt to the Covid circumstances and in that regard, I wish to thank this class for your amazing flexibility and kindness over this year. Most of our faculty delivered their content virtually but we were finally able to have live presentations in May and June.

Each of our classes brings many memories and this one will hold a particular place in my heart for how you worked with all of this so gracefully. Many thanks to the class, staff, and faculty for making what could have been a very difficult year into a very memorable one.

CMAA Welcomes New Hire | Erica Womack Ph.D. - Program Director of Physicians Pipeline

We’re excited to welcome Erica Womack, Ph.D., to the Columbus Medical Association and Affiliates (CMAA) team! Erica is the Program Director for the Physicians Pipeline, our newest initiative aimed at creating more opportunities for Black youth to become doctors. “I hope to further develop a program that is part of redressing inequities in the medical field and is part of reframing narratives and perceptions of Black youth in STEMM (science, technology, engineering, math, and medicine)” says Erica.

Originally from Youngstown, OH, Erica lives in Columbus with her husband, Maurice, and two daughters, Zora and Mona. She enjoys reading, listening to music, watching Netflix/Hulu and her favorite thing to do in Columbus is to go out for brunch or dinner. The CMAA is happy to have Erica on board and can’t wait to see what the future holds.
