Thanks to the exclusive sponsorship of the Columbus Medical Association Foundation, Dr. Robert Falcone, CEO of Columbus Medical Association and its affiliates, sits down for one-on-one conversations with these legendary physicians.

In this edition, Dr. Falcone is joined by Dr. Thomas Main, a physician who spent 36 years of his career with Ohio ENT in Columbus.

Advocacy Update: Pharmacy Board Issues

Pharmacy Board Issues

There are two updates at a recent House of Medicine meeting related to the State Pharmacy Board:

Inspections for Terminal Distributor Licensees. There have been reports from around the state that the Board is conducting an increased number of inspections without advance notice to the TDDD site. These inspections appear to be largely educational/compliance oriented rather than citation focused. The inspections are occurring during normal business hours, so there is the potential for disruption to the day's normal work flow.

Opioid Prescription Data. As a result of reforms instituted a few years ago, prescribers have new reporting obligations for ICD-10 code information. Part of the rationale for this reporting was that the State would be better able to analyze prescription patterns and give prescribers comparative profiles for prescription patterns written for comparable patient populations. To date, this level of analysis has not been produced; however, the Board recently re-affirmed their intention of getting quality data analytics to prescribers. More to come on this if and when the Board makes progress.
