Stairway to lower level removed
Construction on the addition to the narthex moved forward significantly this week after a slow summer. Resurrection representatives had two meetings with the contractor, including one with the architect.
The contractor worked inside the building, removing the stairs and associated framing. Floor joists were installed in place of the old stairs and a new wall enclosing the mechanical room was installed. Outside, the corner jog area was excavated and a footing extension poured.
After meeting with the architect, the contractor will reconfigure the back wall footing to include a design element that was in the original plans. Concrete work for the addition should be complete within 2 weeks.
The contractor will also remove and replace the concrete at the east entrance to the building, which will feature an ADA accessible ramp and automatic door.
Please remember to be aware of your surroundings in the church as we enter this active phase of construction. Access to the lower level of the building is only possible now by using the east entrance or the stairs at the front of the sanctuary.
The Vestry thanks everyone for their patience and understanding as we move forward with this project. Big thanks as well to the many, many contributors who made this entire renovation possible!
